Hiking? Car camping? Lots of choices - depending on what you want. The Florida Trail is about 1400 miles and could keep a person busy for a bit.

We could even see if we could get some folks together for a little weekend trip.
Hiking and maybe an overnight canoe trip. Ocala looks nice and the florida trail sounds good. I just need to find a section with a low denisty of snakes, bears and gators, Oh my
I plan on taking a week or so and flying down.
If some folks wanted to get toghter to tip a few beers around a camp that would be great.
I just need a break from the frozen north.
Looking to go in the next couple of weeks
I'm only a short distance from FL. we got log cabins on the lake, lots of native sites, etc. lots of creeks.. Lake Seminole and the local state parks. and not more than 3 hours from the beach if you still want warmer.

A buddy of mine might go as well, well see.
Anyone know of any concerns i should have in this area?
Not knowing the area and not having any beta i would be gratful for any info like permits- fees etc.

I've camped there. There are some pictures of the place in my album under my profile. I'll probably be there in mid Feb for a weekend. Here's a link with some info. http://www.reserveamerica.com/campgr...&parkCode=jusp Once you nail down when you're going to be there - and if I can swing it - even if not the whole weekend - I'll try and make it.

Quicksand can develop from Alaska to Florida, but hotspots include the marshy coasts of the Southeast, such as Florida and the Carolinas.
