While you are checking all the Southern Regiments from Kentucky how about looking up the 14th Kentucky Infantry Volunteers. My Great Grandpa walked to Louisa to join up. They didn't do bad and how many Kentuckians have saved your rear if you have ever been in combat?? Check that black slab in D.C. and see how many men from KY, TN, WV are on it. I wish records were kept of the men who walked point in the '60 because they knew how to move thru the jungle and were darn good shots. You can wear your hides, play your games but the West was settled by men from VA thru Cumberland Gap or down the Ohio, up from NC. You can cross the river at Louisville and find a different breed but in the Hills of Eastern KY you wouldn't last a day playing Daniel Boone or Simon Kenton, you have heard of them? Oh, while you're on the Civil War look up what state Lincoln and Davis were both born in.
Ole WV Coot,
I was just joking, relax as a matter of fact Kenticky never left CSA, it was all for Sam. Bro I got many good friends in Kentucky, go to Boonesbourgh and Daniel Boone Natinal Forrest for treks but don't play in the woods as you so nicely put it. Because I do my treking in historical clothing with historical equipment you blast me? With all the crap on here that upset you? And btw, those were not the only frontiersmen to as you said "the West was settled by men from VA thru Cumberland Gap or down the Ohio, up from NC" they were from all over the new england states and colonies. And yes I saw my share of action and had some good friends from all over, but just because your from the south, or Virgina, or West Virgina, or Tennessee, or Kentucky, or North Carolina or wherever does not mean you can move any better in the woods than anyone else, its a skill learned. I grew up in Cincinnati Ohio and was an LRSD 101st Airborne Ranger tabbed scout and was great at my job. I grew up hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping here, that mean your better than me cause you did it in the south? HeII no, so put your own ducks in row relax and take a pill. http://ranchoarcana.com/taps/_remote...fault/afro.gif

I think there were natives in west for a long time before anyone from VA came along.
Yeah, actually more like they resettled it after breaking treaties and stealing land.
What was the "Wilderness" for the white man was home and comfortable to the Native American.
By the way Ole WV Coot, please do not take any thing I say personally, just my ranting. And in case you don't know I have the utmost respect for our forefathers no matter where they came from, and a lot of respect for you.
Well, I did it again. I am beginning to develop a taste for crow. We have been and still are the brunt of many jokes and I got up on the wrong side of the bed I guess. You make good points and I agree most of the time. I don't think I could handle your job now. I do admire you and several of my relatives that have to stand and take the crap on the job and do nothing. The difference in our age and wars is so different and the kids that I know coming home today are treated so different I must learn to keep up with the times.
Coot,
Bro, I too played around a little too much and should have never posted such a thing. My father is from Kentucky, born and raised. My Mother is from Virgina. I lived 8 years of my adult life in Tennessee and my 1st wife was a Tennessee girl. I hunted all over the state and love them like brothers. You my friend are a good man and I thank you for your service and know all that I learned in the Army came from Vietnam Vets that taught me everything I know in survival, shooting, and scouting. My Ranger school instructors (black hats) were mostly Vietnam Vets making sure we learned what we needed. You are not eating crow on anything. I understand your feelings and the frontiersmen of all those states you named and then some are true frontiersmen and hero's also. Being a Redneck is not a bad thing and being a country boy is not either, guess I'm in there with you. As for my job, well a scout getting out of the military pretty much had no choice but to do police work cause there wasn't much else I could translate those skills into.
Love ya bro, oh yeah it also made good conversation :)
Beo,
We are what we are and I would cover your back anytime. We won't agree on everything but we stand for the same thing. Reckon that is what really counts, besides you come up with some good topics.
Ole WV Coot - being from up north, I can say with some authority that I enjoy being around people that you have described soooo much more. The rich heritage that comes from the South is something to embrace. As for your time in Nam – Thank you and Welcome Home Brother.
Crash is very right, although these Canadian's and Alaskans got my intrest peeked. :D

Trax,
My bro, just because I say "luv ya bro", don't make me gay or weird.
Now if I had 'wanna luv you bro' that would be weird and gay, and if I was last guy to call ya 'punk' then ya ain't talking to enough people cause you is, although I am one too by my standards, which is not a bad thing, I am a country boy redneck by others standards and that is not a bad thing either I guess, but to me your just my
bro and I luv ya bro! lol...
And don't ya think Will Robinson spent a little too much time with that doctor... who was really weird.
Thiings that make ya go... Hmmm.
