Ham and beans?! You aren't supposed to have that until New Years day!!! If you eat a modest meal on the first day of the year you'll eat well all year long. Where were you when they handed out the old sayings?
Thought I'd start the New Year off with a little bread on a stick. Flour, powdered milk, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, brown sugar. Yum!

2 Vidalia Onions (Sliced)
3/4 cup Veg. Oil
1 cup White Vinegar
3 tbls Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
1/2 tsp Parsley Flakes
1/2 tsp Oregano
1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
The longer it sits the better, great by itself or over a salad or a backstrap!
Beans, Beans, the musical fruit. And cornbread.
If you have a sparse meal on the first you'll eat hardy all year long. So we have beans every New Year's Day. Whewee. That danged dog!
Although they are not very high on my list of things I want to eat....I had a small bowl of black eyed peas.
What no green's on New Years? Beans for luck and greens for cash.

I boiled some eggs.
I usually add salt but this time I added baking soda. It supposedly lowers the Ph of the egg shell and makes it easier to peel. The one I ate did seem to peel easier but, I'm still skeptical.
Does anyone else use the baking soda method?

Not Eggzactly. I use older eggs if I have them and run them under cold water after they've boiled.

Do NOT put your lips on my eggs! And I'm keeping a close eye on you, too.

Yet again, homemade soup. I'm addicted! This batch is veggie and tomato, with white Beans and little pasta. Yum, yum! Oh and a toasted roll on the side!
Well, since I've been thinking about soup 'r dogs, I figure I need to work up the perfect hot dog chili recipe. (Coney sauce.)
I made my first batch, today.
Note to self;
Never, ever use celery seeds again.
Ever!
I am having a "Trespasser". I am going to start with the tender loins, sliced, dipped in flour, and pan fried with lots of onions. Damn Trespassers.
Don't forget fava beans and a nice bottle of Chianti, SD.
