Yep. Same (only) browser I use.
I believe what you're seeing is normal.
On all pages you see the quicklinks at the top, BUT if you're on a "new posts page" be it the "Today's posts" or "Whats new" you open up a different menu for finding more new content. That is intended.
Is the "what's new" tab on the main page the "new posts" link?
Also, I get page not found when I click on the "subscribed threads" link.
The forum seems slow and at some times completely unresponsive. I figured this was just because you are still modigying things, but wanted to point it out in case it's something else.
I really liked the "userCP" and "new posts" links before. That's what most forums I visit have and seems pretty standard. That way I can easily see new responses to my subscribed threads and also see new posts easily without having to navigate through an array of buttons, tabs and links.
The look is much easier on the eyes than a few days ago.
Looks good. Only problem is that I can no longer read it from my cell phone (which I do about 90% of the time now). Oh well, guess it is time to get an upgrade on that also. :)
This thing keeps trying
..to send me to..
http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like...-Forum-Upgrade
I have to post in pieces..
..'cuz it sends me to...
..a search page, cuz..
it can't find..
It seems to be more better, now. LOL
Under whats new you can see a variety of new posts or new content from your last login, under today's posts you can see posts from today.
Your USER CP is still there, the link has moved to the far upper right "My Profile"
you can see subscribed threads under Community > Friends & Contacts
Ken, I can get there either way. I don't know if you can or not. If you go to My Profile see if there is a small crayon to the right of your name. If there is, it should take you to your profile just like Settings. I'll log in as Rock after while and see what the view is.
technically, settings is closer I think
Other than upping the screen resolution, is there a way to make the forum resize to fit the browser window?
This left to right scrolling is annoying especially when I have the browser window set so I can see part of my computer desktop.
Is there a minimum requirement for the browser being used?
Yes. Hold the CTRL key down and use the wheel on your mouse to make it smaller. One click should fix it. Mine did the same thing. It will stay like that each time you log on, too.
Oh, well....huh?
If I hold "ctrl" and use the wheel it takes two clicks to make it fit. (90%)
At 90% (or even at 95%) there is the bar on the right, and the bar on the bottom, (that lets you scroll up-down, or slide left-right) in each individual post. (At the area of the text, being posted.)
Most web pages auto-resize when you change the browser window size, without making the text smaller.
You shouldn't have to click this or that.
I'm just wondering if this outdated computer isn't up to handling the new forum software, but it sounds like others have the same thing.
I'm still not following you. Can't you size it down so the page is centered on the screen? The bar at the bottom will disappear.
Only by making the text impossible to read.
Go to any other website, grab the lower corner of your webbrowser window and resize it smaller. The web page will usually narrow up to accommodate you doing that (up to a point). This site does not do that.
It's set at fixed width.
Ooooh. You're using Internet Explorer (yuck). That's why I'm not following. I use Firefox (big yeah).
I'm using Firefox.
But I'm also using a Mac.
And both are old cuz this home machine is an ooooold Mac.
I'll check at work on Monday to see if an updated system is needed.
If so, I get to scroll on this site, I guess. All other sites behave normally and resize with the browser window. I don't know enough about web programming to even be dangerous but I know this has something to do with a 'dynamic' setting versus a 'fixed width' setting somewhere.
Maybe if you use IE, you'll also see the double words! :clover:
But I don't want to see them.
I'm using IE and don't know what you guys are talking about. But then again, it took three days to find the power switch on my computer.
Fix it? You don't think I actually WORK around here do you? That hurt just typing it. Oh, Chrisssssssss!
That level of fix is in the bowels of the forum. I'm not at all surprised that you'd be there but it's not something I can remedy. Chris will have to twik the tables or fix the forms or correct the code of whatever it is he does. It's all quite beneath me.
