Sounds pathetic really. I mean how bad can your life be when you have to lie about yourself and accomplishments.

I'd take him back in. I think he wants to be "Native Dude" or "Primitive Man" and live the life he talks about. However, living like that is damn near impossible for anyone. Thats what made me think he was a fraud a year ago myself. THe life he talked about just didn't add up, theres not enough hours in the day... living like he talks about is damned brutal, anyone who lives it, will tell you that. He always made its seem romantic. And, from my limited experience on the issue- I say there is nothing too romantic about it...its backbreaking work to live a subsistence life in a Northern Climate...you got to be hard, and you have to be a killer. He never stuck me as either, he struck me as a hobbyist...a Walter Mitty type, who dreamed it, but didn't walk it. Nothing wrong with that- just admit it.
Well said Jason!
The thing that bothers me is how condescending he was to folks who live in town.....all the while living there himself. Pretty sad.
After all this, I definately retract my new welcome, and must express my sincerest disappointements. I really admired ND for living the dream. I guess I should have known from the information I get from my aunt who lives in AK regarding the life of the Inuit, that it was all a sham, but I still wanted to believe in my heart that it was possible for someone to go out and live as a part of nature.
Dreams die. truths are revealed, and disappointment sets in.
I think it's time to lock this thread and squash the whole mess. any seconds on that motion?
I don't think the thread - or the topic should be locked and tucked away. The truth is the truth and to deny it only leads to more disappointment. This should serve as a shining example of how a reputation and trust that is earned can so easily be shattered.
You only "own" two things in this life. Your knowledge and your good name. No one can take either away from you but you can easily give both away.
I agree with most of what has been said. Obviously he has some issues - maybe even demons to deal with. The fact that he has lied to all of us really doesn't matter in the big scheme of things. His condescending attitude toward just about everybody except one member that I think he fancied himself to be more like are issues that he will have to deal with. The most troubling thing for me were some of the younger, wide eyed folks that were awe struck by such a "romantic" life style. He may have caused some to venture off to chase a dream, only to find heart break. I guess it's possible that it may have caused some to venture off to chase a dream and find happiness too. I think most would prefer to go on a journey with with the truth and reality.
Well, all I can say is if someone wants to know about living the lifestyle that he tried to portray, ask Wildwoman (and a couple others around here). It's good that we maintain an awareness of what went down with ND, and a lot of his information is still valid, but I kind of think we're beating a dead horse now.
me too!
The question I have now is as klakk mentioned "was all the info he/ she gave really good or not?" He expressed everything as he/ she was himself or herself doing it. Was he/ she? or was that a lie too?
That's my problem with it all. if he/ she was doing all the things he/ she said he/ she did that's one thing. But, if he/ she was just pretending then I'd say everything said is worthless. Anyone can go online and read books and say they did these things. the people I look up to and learn from are the ones who have first hand experience with what they preach. Even if they say they're doing it in a place they are really not. As long as they really did it I'm happy. I could care less where they live or how.
I'd have no problem with him or her coming back either, but it would be awful hard to accept anything he/ she says as fact.
Very confusing issue! I don't like prying into people's personal lives or playing detective on them, but I can see why some would now.:online2long:
Maybe we should have the secretary do a "Readers digest" one page recap of the Nativedude "outing".
Who is the secretary anyway?
I volunteer Ken!
Facts. Just the facts, maam. Um, I mean klkak.

Alright enough gum flap'n. Ken get to writing!
Man, am I slow to the party. I just finished reading the thread where klkak rats him out, and then this one. But, I am not surprised. I have seen the same behavior on other forums, and I am sure it isn't the first time on this one. So, is ken really a lawyer, or just pretending to live in Mass. Oh wait, he is telling the truth. Why would anyone want to make that up?
I have to wonder why this guy is being singled out? With some experience you 'll find a large perscentage of what you read online is pure crap. Who does not know that? Certainly those people that are full of crap should and there are a lot of those. It's kind of like politicians, they are all corrupt but if they get caught people seem shocked. It's the nature of the beast. I just find it curious.
That's just not true, AS. Information on the internet is generally accurate and factual. I read that on the internet.
AS, The thing with Nativedude, is that he was misleading members. And it became more and more extreme. There are waves of young dreamers who come here wanting to spend a year or a lifetime all alone in the wilderness. As an adult member of this forum I have a self imposed moral obligation to the young wilderness seekers. Not to squash their dream, but to nurture it's safe manifestation.
You just proved it yourself, ya goof. You said information on the internet is not factual. That means that what you just said is not true. Therefore, all information on the internet must be true. See? And I read it on the internet.
At least the info I put up on the interweb is true to my knowledge and experience... and I take pictures to prove it.:dots::mad:
I'd like to see a pic of someone jumping off a cliff that would otherwise break a leg, using an umbrella as a parachute. Every umbrella I've owned would fold out on itself on a small gust of wind. Never seen one that would double as a parachute in my whole life.:gimp:
call me out on that if you like, but I'd have to see pictures to believe that. I've been called out before on fire from rocks, so no hard feelings. just sayin.
