Thanks for the update. Sounds like he's doing better.
Awesome news, Nell. I keep praying for you and yours.
Glad to hear things are getting better. Yesterday before returning from Nakhon Sawan to Chiang Mai my girlfriend said the usual Buddhist prayer in front of shrine for her father. I asked her to say a prayer also for your brother. I said he was a friend of mine in army, as I do not know Thai word for Marines. I hope your brother would forgive me for this. I said he was a friend as it is complicated trying to explain to her about forum. I am not Buddhist myself and when she said prayer to Buddha I did likewise to God, but I guess God is God no matter what name. Anyway perhaps all these prayers from so many people did some good as things are looking up. Chok dee (good luck)

Phonetically I believe it is Nah wek go ya tin. (of course that is with a New Jersey accent :) ) However, no guarantees if it is a bad word, :)
Another bit of trivia for the masses :)
Thank you all for all the prayers, whatever your belief system maybe,I believe they are working,Dustin was allowed to get up and walk for a little bit yesterday, which greatly improved his mood!
They have him doing lung treatments to ward off pneumonia, but I think they should let him talk to my young nephew more often,as that little guy (6 yo) had him laughing uncontrolably,it hurt him a great deal but I am sure it was very helpful for his lungs:)
They are talking about moving him to a military hospital, and estimate full recovery to take 6 months, with his determination I think it may not take that long.
Great news! Glad to hear it.
Nice to hear some good news.
Good for him. He will come out of this a stronger man (always has to be something good in everything)
Sounds like things are looking up, God Bless.
Excellent news, Nell!!
Good to hear he is improving. Ill pray for the best.
Thank you pal 334. I can use all the help I can get with this language. Nell,my girlfriend marisa asked me how Dustin was doing and I said he is doing better and she says after she prayed to her father, his spirit came to help Dustin get better. Buddhist people have a lot of beliefs concerning spirits of the dead and every house has a little house called a spirit house in front of it where ghosts are supposed to live. The main point is he is getting better and that is great. My friend in US special ops was just seriously injured in a training accident in US. He will survive but he has serious burns so he could use some prayers also.
Nell, I just read this post for the first time today. When I started reading back on page 1, I was dreading where this post was going. But thank God! I'm so happy that your brother is on the road to recovery! I'm glad to hear the good news.
chiangmiamav, please thank your girlfriend for me,I talked to him last night and he sounded mcuh better, although he has little patience for the nursing staff at the hospital where he is,in fact he actually had a "temper tantrum" with one of the nurses who had come in and checked on him, asked him several questions regaurding how he was feeling and his pain levels and while he was still answering her,she turned and left the room, this did not sit well with him and he had the fit,at which point she instructed the family members present to leave the hospital:eek:.
He has been allowed to get out of bed and walk around a few times now,and that does seem to help the anger, but he said it does hurt his back alot more to do so,the surgery performed on his neck is not causing him any discomfort, which is definately good news.
I will pray for your friend also chaingmiamav.
nell good to hear your brother is doing just keep praying and believing.god bless
Thank you Nell. I don't blame Dustin for getting mad at nurse. Why ask him how he feels if she didn't wait for him to answer him? I think it is good he is angry because he is fighting. Apathy is the thing that is dangerous. My friend will see doctor today and has third degree burns on hand but not life threatening. Thank you for your prayers and my girlfriend says thank you also. She asks about your brother every day and her whole family who live many miles away even asked about him today, though they still do not comprehend about forum.
Oh I know his reasons for being mad at the nurses, but I can't say all the words he used on the forum, but lets say that he told her he is a US Marine and demands more respect than that:eek:,but he has been a fighter his whole life ( had to be,he is the youngest of 11 kids, you know how older siblings can be)plus the lifestyle that we grew up in with our father, growing up was tough for him,but he allowed the father to stay at the hospital for the first couple of days, but then had him kicked out after he tried to refuse to allow Dustin to speak with me on the phone twice.
I will continue to pray for your friend for a quick recovery, and thank your family and friends for their prayers, they do mean alot to me and to Dustin,he says he really appreciates that people who do not know him would pray for him.
I know from experience how difficult it is during times of crisis when family members do not get along. Hopefully nothing will distract Dustin from his recovery which is the most important thing. Good luck and God bless.
