I live around an hour north of Chattanooga, TN. Close to a mountain named Mount Eagle. I'm pretty good for a 3-4 hour drive. How primitive is it going to be. Basically what is allowed and whats not.

I hope you like digging your own privy....:innocent:
J/k. Here is the description of the site I think CBS was wanting to reserve:
http://www.georgia.reserveworld.com/...aspx?i=196&p=DQuote:
This is a primitive, rugged site. Site is located by itself. Site has no water or electricity. No access to shower facilities. Site has pit toilet, fire ring, picnic tables. Site is located across from Terrora Campground. Camping includes a 3-sided elevated shelter, maximum capacity 25 (3 large tents or several small tents). Vehicle parking located approximately 30 yards from parking lot. Check-in at the Interpretive Center no later than 4:00 p.m.
I actually went there yesterday and there were lots of bugs that kept landing on me. But they didn't seem to bother my date a bit.
And I also posted a pic of the primitive camping spot on post #36.
Daniel
Thanks for the heads up. Here is the link to RX's post with the pic:

Looks like a nice area for a meet.
Just to let everyone know that we will need to bring our own firewood. Does anyone know if there are regulations for bringing firewood into GA? I know here in TN they have a ban on quite a few states' firewood.
We can't even move firewood from county to county in Indiana. Not all counties are affected but a good number of them are. The ones where the emerald ash borer has been found are quarantined.
Was reading information for the campsite. With all the restrictions what are we going to be able to do as far as recreation or educating members like myself that know little. Like I said in earlier post I have never been to any kind of a Jamboree. Kinda wanting to know what to expect.
SS, I think it would be more comradery than anything else...I may have a tip for you or you may have one for me. I don't see it as having scheduled workshops. It'd be nice of each member present had a skillset they could showoff at some point. It would also matter how many people can make the trip.
Not too much different than that..when we have a date, and who can make it, we'll plan more..Me I'd like to do some hiking...looks like we'll need a pass for that too.
LOL. Sad that you have to pay to walk through the woods now. Oh well, it will still be fun. That part of GA is beautiful. I grew up in North GA.
There is till real wilderness around here....but, you have to go by boat and that is what I do.
Anyone know if FVR is coming? I believe its pretty close to home for him?
Can we make one rule. 1) NO LOIN CLOTHS
And miss out on the fun? These guys look like they are having a great time...

You got a link to the rules?
In Big Cypress you are supposed to fill out a back country pass. It is just a carbon copy form that you pick up at the trail head. You put one copy in the box and tie the other copy to your pack.
Other places down here you sign in and out.

*EDIT*
Tallulah Gorge Specific:
PET RULES: For animals' safety, pets are not allowed on the gorge floor or on any trail accessing the gorge. Leashed pets are still allowed on rim trails.
PERMITS:
Free permits are required to access the gorge floor and can be obtained at the Interpretive Center. Visitors must wear proper footwear to obtain a permit -- no flip-flops or crocs. Permits will not be issued after 4 p.m.
Permits limited to 100 per day. On busy days, permits may run out early in the morning. Permits are not transferable.
Groups of 20 can get permits on Saturday and Sunday only. Groups of 30 can get permits Monday through Friday only. To protect the natural resource, no groups larger than 30 are allowed.
Weather and water flow conditions can restrict gorge floor access.
You don't need a pass to go around the gorge. All the pictures that I've shown never needed the pass. I have never gotten the pass though it lets you go to the very bottom where there is no safety railing. And if that isn't good enough, there's also some other trails in the area.
I hope this has not died out. Was really excited about this trip. I have plenty of questions on wild edibles. Bring your thinking caps!
No, it's still going on. I think we were waiting to see if anyone else voted for the date they wanted.
Soon as CBS closes the poll we will begin to talk more in depth about it.
Thanks for the update roar-k
BUMP!
By the way, the poll says it has been closed without a winning date.
Yeah that means we need to for CBS to make the decision final so we can start making plans.
So please PM him and bug him until he posts. =)
From the begining, here is a list of people that have posted to this thread I thought were interested in attending. Sorry if I miss anyone.

Just remembered that I will not be able to do May 1-2. I will be participating in Relay For Life on April 30 and may not get any sleep. Don't think it matters since no one voted for that date, but just a heads up.
Anyone okay with just saying May 15,16 and run with it. Someone can pm CBS let him know. Roar-k if you want you can tell Rick its going to be April 17,18. lol
Everyone ok with May 15 and 16?
If you like you could get there on Friday the 14th as well.
As far as I know, I can do that weekend. I may even be able to get there on Thursday the 13 after work. But that might be pushing too much on the other attandees.
To those of you going or at least thinking about going is there any specific thing you want to do? By this I mean we can work on skills, go hiking, go fishing, just eat all day and hang out.
It would be awesome to get a few people that can show how to pick out wood for making a bow drill and then how to use it, maybe someone that can do plant identification, and so on.
I can possibly make it down on that Friday. I am 100% good on the fishing part. Everything else is good to.
I am potentially available that weekend. I will know more the closer we get.
I will put this on my calendar and see what happens. A day trip may be my only choice since it's baseball, turkey, and trout season.
You guys have a blast and take plenty of pictures.
