While I'm at it the sheriff needs to shut his damm yap! With him running his mouth without facts just might put the case in question. He seemed to blame everyone with a right lean and not the gunman.

People of all stripes (but especially those who would personally be affected by fill-in-the-blank) always use the excuse that well, since there's no perfect system for fixing anything, let's not even try to fix something. Because that something represents a slippery slope...never mind that most things in life are a slippery slope. Something that should be navigated to the best of our human ability since it can never be eliminated.
Say, you're hurt in the middle of a remote nowhere and a slippery slope represents the only way to a possible help. By taking it you risk more injury but gain a chance to be rescued. By not taking it you risk expiring from your injuries before you get discovered.
What would you do?

Wait, what happened to the talk about banning 18 wheelers? I agree, I think we should. Or at least most of the interstate over the road ones. We still need local drivers. We have this new invention called a train that can do most of the job better, safer, and more efficiently. By the way, I used to be a teamster.

I agree FM Trains would be a better alternative to Semi's. Both for mass transit and transporting goods.

Thinking about it, I figure that maniac Loughner would have been far more effective if he had used an 18-wheeler. He wouldn't have had to stop and reload an 18-wheeler - he could even have backed up or driven in circles. An 18-wheeler would have been a far more effective weapon in a crowded Safeway parking lot, so reason would have it that 18-wheelers are more dangerous than handguns.

Such a law would be relatively easy to enforce, as carrying a concealed 18-wheeler would be rather difficult.

Of course, once we ban 18-wheelers, any ban on 10-wheelers, or pickup trucks, or cars, or even motorcycles would be out of the question. Right?

Just thinking....... some communities already require people to register their bicycles, don't they?
