Inflamatory headlines aside, isn't it great that those veterans live and served in a country where they can peacefully protest a government and government policies that they disagree with. That's what the headlines should have been.
The police didn't use any force against them, but they did follow their orders that no one vet or otherwise could march on the DNC, personally I think it is their right to march but I would never march because I was a soldier, I saw no rank above Pvt there, and you cannot just walk into a political convention and demand anything. I didn't like some of what I did as a soldier, but a soldier follows orders and its a war, things happen in war. A private is not the one to decide if and when the troops go anywhere. And those Airborne soldiers should know better, kinda disgusting that a soldier would do that, but I understand how they feel. Confusing on both sides, but the treatment of our vets is grossly worng and I support them in wanting better treatment for vets.
A note about the "kids" that should have been left alone by the police....over 250 anarchists were arrested as they vandalized property and terrorized individuals. Yep - just kids.
My opinion: (talking about the Columbine kids and other kid shooters) if the parents were negligent about parenting their kids, then the parents are responsible for the actions of the kids, whether or not the parents actively taught the Columbine killers how to make bombs or buy guns or not.Quote:

I think public spanking for minors convicted of certain crimes, and a caning of adults in public, would be a step in the right direction. It sure helps Thailand (or was it Singapore?).
But let's think about the DNC and police thing: perhaps there was some law that said reporters were supposed to remain 100 feet away from DNC participants, the reporter didn't know about it (where would he find out anyway?), and the officer just had a bad day.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse?? How many times have you heard that one??:rolleyes: Wouldn't matter if they knew or not,if it's the law,they still have to obey it.
OK - here's my tinfoil hat theory about the reporter that got arrested. He was doing a story on big money lobbyists and politicians. Not too much of a stretch that the big money guys had "paid" for some privacy.

Well, the really good news is I received a letter from the government today advising me my DNA is in the database. I'm gonna sleep a lot better tonight I can tell you that! You have to pay a little more for security and peace of mind but, hey, it's worth it.
