Just because "60 Minutes" does a segment profiling 2 vets that are violent when they return, does not make "all" or "most" returning vets violent.

First, I'm not an officer, do not have officer training. However, having tried to throw kitchen cutlery and various hunting knives, I do know they are not made for throwing, and the untrained person is unlikely to hit you with a point. If the person was holding a knife and standing still, not drawing back to throw it, I would use a taser first.Quote:

bulrush, I've never heard of any LEO who's taught to aim for the foot and the bottom line is you don't know what that person with that knife is capable of whether housewife or tweaker or Frank. How much of a chance do you want to take with your life on any given day?
Well I am a cop and Trax is perfectly correct, and I can say this knowing it is full and true the ALL POLICE AGENCIES are to SHOOT or double tap the DISHPAN i.e. the chest and lower abdomen area, no warning shots or winging them, thats movie crap and if its an old lady then God bless her soul cause I'm setting up the meeting. The threat level goes up by the actions of the intended subject, such as he uses fists, LEO's use mace or PR24, he has a stick I have a tazer, he has anything else I have a gun, he takes a martial arts stance I pull gun, that is our training.
If the threat is moving I got a shotgun for larger shot pattern (just kidding) If the threat is their hands moving or walking the chest area is the biggest target and moves slower. Just how it is folks. I have trained with police from all over the U.S. and the training is basically the same.
Center body mass. Keep firing until the threat has been removed.
The only thing I'd throw is a fit.

I've been throwing knives for over 15 years.
Steak knife, butcher knife, pocket knife, butter knife, bowie knife, Kabar, pioneer knife, you name it, I'll make it stick.
Center mass, all the time.
How are those modern day bullet proof vests, they stopping knives nowdays? In the past they did not.
As far as the lady, hey, all it takes is one lucky throw and you have a dead officer.
Again, if police tells me to drop it, I drop it.
Modern vests with ceramic plates added will stop a knife, without the plates, not so much.
I couldn't shoot an old lady with a knife. The law should just leave and call her family. Y'all don't make the mistake of shooting old women around here that are probably a little loony just because she has a kitchen knife.
Where did the "old" lady come in. I posted a lady, I believe she was in her late 30's and on drugs.
