This isn't what I want the future of the country I live in to look like. Having our rights slowly scraped away from us till we get to that point because of blind trust? Just because lots of people believe something or just because the government says it right doesn't make it right. Sourdough I admire your faith in our government, its a rare thing these days. But I feel that faith doesn't make it acceptable not to question the situation which, on the surface, appears to be the government bullying and implicating an honest and innocent man. I'm not saying one side is right or wrong, I'm just saying don't pick a side so quickly with such little consideration. That's the last thing we should do as citizens.Quote:

Yep! Too little info to go on! I need to hear BOTH sides before I'd comment on it one way or another. One thing i can say is this, if it happened to me they'd have to talk to my lawyer before I took anything down! So this seems suspect to me. I have to say this does not scare me. Our country is in a weird way right now and domestic terrorism is on the rise. Without knowing the entire story or reading this gentleman's blog, I would highly doubt a government agency would bother this man without reason. Our Constitution protects his right to free speech and from what I have read here that was not violated. He also has the right to ask those government officials to leave him and his family alone. If he was really a threat, he would not even know they were watching him.
To break down some of what has been said, you said he talks about religion, survival, and government on his blog. Though it can be innocent enough to discuss these separate, when you starting mixing religious ideals with survival and government it can create a misguided appearance. If you look at the history of domestic attacks on the United States there is a guarantee of at least two of these factors where behind the attack.
To add some insight to where this view comes from. After the attack at Fort Hood, the military went into Cold War mode. We all received training in identifying individuals that might hold extremist ideals, especially religious ones. It is kinda like the "Is your neighbor a Communist?" but now it is "Is your roommate a terrorist?" So that tells me our government is taking this threat very seriously and chasing down all the leads.
Will some innocent people get harassed? Yes
Will it lead to identifying real threats? Yes
Is it the end of our country and total government control? NO
Personally, he should have left the blog up and wrote about the experience. It would have made for some interesting reading.
