In a heartbeat!
We are as close to it as we can be, but still have aged parents requiring care, so have to have minimal contact with 'civilization'. Once they are no longer in the equation, we are gone. Disappeared. And happy to be so. It can be done, and will be done.

I would. Don't get me wrong I like my lifestyle and I've worked very hard to get to a place where I can be very comfortable, but the stress is horrendous! (at the moment I'm working about 12 hours a day building my business up) but no phones, internet, no other bills would be bliss!!!
Alas it would be pretty hard though to find a nice lady and to raise a family though I think. Well unless your lucky enough to find a like minded woman that is!!!!

Like many said before me, I voted no... I have a family that can not at present make the transition. but if I were alone... just walk away...no problem

I voted yes , you can get off grid almost any where without going to Timbuktu . Location is important as you would need materials to build with such as logs ,sod ,adobe, water game potentially good soil for growing stuff . The desert would be a hard place to start a off grid homestead as would the extreme north. So it is not as easy as get your hat and coat and leave your troubles on the door stepbut it is douable.

I wish i could but past injuries would make it very hard for me. If i was not hurt it would still have to be the right location with the right set up. My activities are limited these days. I have lived far out before without electricity and indoor plumbing, but i still went to the grocery store. It would be very tough without a little money. Only a few can really handle it and trying to find a woman out there is very hard.
