Cheapest Recommended Pistol

Love the 38 and it's 9mm cousin. I haven't met a person yet that can't handle the recoil and have good follow up with any of them. Not knocking anything bigger just physically smaller folks typically have control issues with higher calibers.

Same with wheel guns. Simpler so more people are successful out of the box. I lean toward used smiths or Rugers. Been a while but I have seen some around $350. Not sure if it hits the price point, but Tarus makes some Smith copies that are as functional and lower cost.

I checked those out a couple of months back.

They are listed at $213 at the moment.

They are a clone of the Colt revolver. Same lock work, latch system (pull to release), grip shape, 6 shot capacity.

They have a HEAVY parkerized finish like none I have encountered.

RIA has a good reputation.

I've not owned a sccy but I've sold and handled several......it was very similar to a kel tec. I really have no complaints with my keltec p11 except maybe the finish on the slide. Have you really scoured the used market? I paid 300 for each of my glocks.....used. I've owned a hi point...it worked.....great warrenty if u break it.......ugly as sin.

I've noticed that a lot of used guns.......never got used! Don't limit yourself to brand new!!

I bought a "used" Rossi r851 4 years ago for $265. The previous owner contracted Glock fever and managed to shoot 30 rounds through the Rossi before he traded it in.
30 rounds means he tested it. It works fine.

I had a Rossi snubby 38, never found fault with it, and NOW wish I had NEVER gotten rid of it! It was a rough clone of the Chief Special, it was accurate and reliable and light... and I bought it used for cheap.

Rossie and Taurus have merged or one bought the other or something like that.. Id like to have the SST version of my Taurus #65 but Id rather just put the money into ammo or a Sig for the daughter.

Well, Im drifting off discussion but to bring it full circle, I did get the #65 for $350, and for a good 357, thats a good buy for a good gun!

Yes but it is good gear. Better good used at the right price than less capable but new.

I have a Smith model 10, 60 year old 38 my grandfather carried as a peace officer that I would bet my life on. Seen a lot of holster wear and I learned how to shoot my first pistol with it. But solid.

Ruger, Smith and Colt revolvers will last at least 2 lifetimes and perform every time. No plastic in any of them.

Hi, I'm Joe blow survivalist/mall ninja/...The Zombie Hunter...and I found this forum and want to buy me a good Zombie killin' gun when I get big.

'Now I don't have any relatives to leave me any thing like that ....except maybe bills.....and there isn't jack squat around for the black zombie kinnin' guns with big clips....lots of bullets for cheap used......oh an my state doesn't allow them any way.

Oh yeah....I have $120 buck to spend...I see y'all getting' used ones for that....where?

What do I do?

Laughing my tail off reading that one. So true on so many levels. Get anything marked zombie killer, or better yet a bat with nails in it. LOL

You know you can still get model 10s. Just not called out as military and police specials, still have the factory box, and part of Granddads leather gear belt. Holster, keepers, ammo pouches and handcuff case. All old school leather gear.

Keeping a thread on track around here is like herding cats! (at least you are not as bad as the British!)

Anybody at the right place, at the right time, can catch a broke, unemployed guy with a hungry family and get a good used gun deal.

But you can't guarantee doing that tomorrow morning at 10 am so you can have a usable pistol to leave with the wife when you go to work at 4pm, because you just moved into a crappy house in a bad neighborhood so you could finish college, make some money, and buy what you really wanted.

But no one seems to have ever been there and had to do that.

So just carry on....

Well, it was a while back....and truth be told I had a Ruger Mini 14 that I paid $350 for...and a guy wanted to trade.....so $350.
Both had the extra grips.

Yeah, that was kinda my point...need to be a repeatable option or it really doesn't count....buying used isn't normally repeatable.

when I was still a teenager I had several options to leave with a wife. It may have been a smith and wesson triple lock along with others but it would have done the job LOL. However I didn't get hitched until my mid twenties and by then I had a few more choices. My point being, I started prepping at a young age and have not found myself in dire need of a firearm or several for a very long time.

Are you talking about the cost of the purchase, because showing off a $200 Tork is like showing off a MN, lowest cost wins.

Waiting periods. I'm glad to see my state's waiting period partially overturned, but even then that has a 180 day holdup before it can take effect, is only or those with a CCW or those of us with firearms already on paper and is still subject to the possibility that a background check gets held up for days and days, as I believe has been known to happen more than rarely. Apparently they come back as quick as 1 hour, but I'll have to take the internet's word for that.

I have a CCW so I have no waiting period and I am pre-approved for any purchase. They do not even have to call it in.

Around here it is not a "show off" thing. Couple of hundred thousand other folks have the same. My late wife had a permit, my preacher has a permit, I know that both my neighbors have permits. I know a lot of women that work as medical professionals and work odd shifts and in strange places and most of them have carry permits. Chances are that if you turn a person from around here upside down and shake them a pistol will fall out from somewhere!

Kentucky also recognizes one's vehicle as an extension of their home, so any citizen that can legally own a firearm can keep one in their vehicle, and they do! No CCW is required. Road rage crap and car-jackings are not a worthwhile sport around here.

So I've been wondering, how's it been treating you?

I picked it up and broke it down to clean it, put it back together and have nor fired it yet. Me and Natertot have an appointment next week and I was intending to let him have the honors and get a second opinion based on "out of the box" behavior. Otherwise it's just another case of the Krat mouthing off.

This is not your granddad's war production tt33. Just like with the AK, there were different models produced in different countries and many of them have been modified for import to the US.

The US requires a "safety", which the tt33 in its original form did not have.

Mine is Serbian and is equipped with three safety mechanisms; magazine block, hammer block, and firing pin block. The more safeties the more import points they get.

The machining is very good, inside and out, and the finish is as good as most of the second tier hardware available such as the Rossi, Taurus and Charter Arms.

The action is butter smooth and the trigger is very acceptable. I had not expected either of those attributes based on prior experiences with "war pickup" tt pistols.

We will see how it shoots next week. if it will keep its shots inside a 5 gallon bucket at 25 yards I have gotten more pistol than I paid for.

Did I mention that it is made out of steel? Real steel?

Not pot metal, not aluminum, not hi-grade polymer, but real steel, just like in the olden days!
