man that is an amazing offer jason. like others have said if i was single i would jump on that...im still gonna tell my fiance about your offer cause she just might want to do it. the both of us just feel out of place here in so-cal. we were even looking for houses and cabins in alaska, idaho and montana.
1. It is an amazing offer. Good for you, Jason. Great out of box thinking. A win/win as long as personalities don't clash.
2. There is no way, married or not, I'd go. Uh, no, thanks. Not my cup of tea. Not into that whole off grid thingie.
3. Anyone that signs up for this will either have a life changing, life affirming experience or a wake up call.
Jason, while I can't take you up on that offer, as I have a family to care for, you and I are practically neighbors. We might have to do one of those jamboree thingies up here some day!
Where was this offer 26 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!
If my wife all of a sudden divorces me and takes the kids, I'll be humping it over to your place.
I'd gladly trade you two weeks in our guest suite in Brazil for two weeks in that cabin. Mac
Jason I hope you will find the Person that will do the things you ask of them.
Sorry for not making it for your river raft in Aug., but I did get a new grandchild out of the deal.
Hey everyone, thanks for all the PM's! This is a serious offer. I will be getting back to everyone who PM'd me soon. First, however I have to devise a basic questionaire for interested persons, and write a basic description of the job/cabin and location.
My goal for providing this opportunity is to make better use of my time, and I realized yesterday after spending an hour discussing with an interested person, then having them decline, that just trying to locate the right person can be a big waste of time. So, I want to streamline the process to screen people and weed them out in an efficent manner as possible.
Thanks again for the responses, and I'll be trying to get back to folks by this evening
Chris is always looking for videos. This would make an outstanding video. A day in the life of...
You might want to post some pics of the cabin. The could ween a few for you.
Jason - I'm sure that this will come as no suprise to you. Hope and Wild Woman have spoken clearly about it. We see it here as well. Most that are looking for a way to "get away from civilization" have a romanticized notion of what it really is. Too much television and movies in my opinion. Many, when they find out that remote living requires work - more work than they ever had to put in in their 9 to 5 grind that they are seeking to escape. More work than the young person could have imagined that is trying to avoid the "tyranny of the man". More work than they have ever thought about doing, much less having done it. The oft romanticized fascination of living off grid is, in realty most times a desire to live with fewer expenses. Once their eyes are opened to reality they kind of fade away. Maybe it's a product of the "I want it now" society. Maybe it's the product of a lazy society. Maybe it's something else. Maybe that's why fewer and fewer people in today's society do it.
like so many of us, 'i would jump at the chance if only..'
darned circumstances but i've always got so many things on my place.
i can and will say that i hope you find a reliable soul to help you mind the store, as it where.
What are you people--nuts? I've spent the last number of years trying to get away from living like that...yeeesh.
No, seriously J_M, like everyone else....personal commitments and other considerations stopping me in my tracks. Commitments like work, considerations like being turned back at the international border.....
You will. When you hit 50 you'll be 25 twice. Does that help?
10 million out of work and we have rick, wow how did we get so lucky
