Twice, i've been treed while hunting in Maine. The first time, i didn't have a handgun with me. Dropped my rifle and climbed like a tree rat. The pack (about 12 dogs all breeds) then proceeded to sniff and piss on my rifle. they got bored and left after about 90 minutes.
The second time I had my MKII ruger with me along with 4 spare mags. Coot, that just means that you are compassionate. One of the better qualities of humans. I can be a softy about certain things too. Especially cruelty / neglect to animals.
