If I remember correctly Tylenol 3 is OTC in Canada, but because of the codeine in it is a prescription only in the US.
with codeine it's prescription here too, Crash.
Coffee is...well I don't want to put too fine a point on it, but oftentimes..yeah it's my reason for living. I take my coffee pretty seriously and very often. If I was out in the bush without supplies, coffee is what I'd miss the most.
2nd next to Nell.....of course.
oh yeah, that's coffee...oftentimes, Nell, all the time:)
I'm not sure that I would have any motivation to get out of bed if it weren't for coffee. It's one of the items on my "If survival means doing without this, then to hell with surviving" list.
Something to consider re: the effects of caffeine.
Caffeine is a diuretic - that means, it takes more water to pass it out of your system than you take in from the source of the caffeine. So, if water is an issue in your situation, caffeine is probably not the best thing for you.
I'll likely start some talk on this, but there's also ephedra/ephedrine. AKA Mormon Tea (I think.)
Note that it is also synergistic with aspirin AND caffeine, meaning if you take this with the two aforementioned substances ALL THREE produce stronger results than any one would have alone. (Did I say that right?)
I took it quite a bit in college in pill form, and it works very well. It stimulates the metabolism and boosts energy more than caffeine in my opinion, so it helps if you're trying to lose pounds. I took mine with an aspirin and 2 cups of expresso in the morning, and the same again before workouts. I worked out a lot then.
When I quit I had absolutely zero identifiable withdrawal symptoms. Just wasn't as bouncy as before. Now I quit coffee too, just lost my desire for it. No withdrawal there either.
I'm glad it worked for you. I sort of weigh sudden cardiac death (ephedra) on one hand and a satisfying, refreshing, hot cup of coffee on the other. For some reason, coffee always wins.
Isn't that stuff banned in Indiana now Rick? Too many kids dying (literally)to get their hands on the stuff.
I took the stuff once when I was on third shift and taking my mom to treatments during the day (cancer) some weeks I got very little sleep, not a good thing when you drive a fork truck,so I bought some and tried it,spent the next 4-5 hours finding things to do that didn't require me to drive the lift the jitters were that bad.
Oops! I did forget to mention some of the negative aspects of ephedra. I'm glad you guys did! I heard word of mouth it's bad for the liver too, as are most OTC pain meds like Aspirin and Tylenol.
I also neglected to mention that a tolerance builds to it, quickly in my case.
It also worked (for me) better than any OTC allergy remedy.
It's banned nationwide as a dietary supplement. I think you can still buy it though.
Down here, everything has to be ephedra free, they are not supposed to sell it anymore.
There is a pill in Canada that you can get without prescription that has codine in it, you get it over the counter, but it is very low dose. Codine puts me to sleep, and I used these when I could not sleep because of the pain in my hip and back, worked great.
I don't know what it is about coffee, but I drink it all day long. It doesn't have to even be good. I have the timer set on mine to start before I get up and finish dripping about the time I make it to the kitchen. I drink about a pot and a half BEFORE I leave for work. At least two pots at the office. Even when it gets that old roofing tar look at 3-4PM, I'll load a cup up for the commute home. When I get home I nuke the half pot left over from the morning.
I used to drink colas but quit for many reasons, but when I did, I could down a 2 liter or drink a pot of coffee and lay down and go to sleep. Drink half a glass of tea at lunch and lay awake all night. If I did fall asleep, I'd wake up having to pee. Don't know why, just not a tea drinker.
Funny, nasty story: Used to be a member of a mtn bike club and we camped and raced at LBL(Land Between the Lakes) at a big 50 mile race. We had some cool guys on our team and loved to camp. My wife had just give me a new tent as a gift. A tree fell on my previous tent during a storm, I wasn't in it. My wife decides to come on this trip too. LESSON TO BE LEARNED, test your equipment BEFORE heading out. Open the tent for the first time and they accidentally sold her the model that hangs from the ceiling. A tarp and some creativity and we stayed dry during that night's storm.
My wife gets up to use the restroom way too much, she takes medicine now for it. I have a race at 5AM, she wakes me up every 30 min cause she's afraid to go in the woods. We had some of those blue and red solo cups and I told her to pee in a cup, just don't wake me up again. Next morning I'm cooking my eggs on the trusty coleman and, OH no, I forgot my coffee. A guy from another team comes stumbling thru and asked if anyone wanted the last of his coffee. YES! Let me go get a cup. It's dark and I reach in and grab a cup and sling its contents and enjoy his coffee. My wife wakes up and stumbles to me and asks where I got the cup. I couldn't figure out what she was driving at and told her we had a whole pack just grab another. She then reminded me that I told her not to wake me up and go in a cup. What did I do with its contents. I spewed. I'm a germaphobe clean freak and hardly drink after my wife, yet I just drank.... Oddly enough, 9 months and 15 minutes after that camp out, we had a son. So it wasn't all bad.
I don't know why but people gross me out. I don't like people talking while I eat or breathing on my food. OTOH, I'll whip out a knife and clean a fish and put a new dip in during the middle. I tell my wife nature is clean, people are nasty.:D
See.. I know that isn't true. You can't get pregnant. You're a guy and you sure can't get pregnant drinking your wife's pee! You and Tom Brown! You guys are both wrong.
Actually it was my wife that got pregnant. I can't go into it in a family friendly forum, but if you PM me offline, I'll explain how it all works.:D
PS - no birds, bees or storks. I'll give you the truth!:D
I was just joking with the above, I assume you knew that, but who is Tom Brown?:o
We'd tell you all about Tom but then we'd have to....well...it is a family friendly forum.
