I make bone arrowheads out of deer leg bone, and wooden ones, but you can't really consider that flintknapping. Glass is good to, it can be worked like flint and obsidian. I don't know just do trial by error. Sometimes I make really crude seashell arrowheads but to componsate for the non-sharp edge, I edge out saw like sides on it for cutting power. Iv'e never made a knife but it sounds like the same technique and materials are similar to an arrow.

If you're looking for sharp shells, walk across an oyster bed. You'll cut your feet to ribbons.
