I remember working the target pit during M-14 quals. Firing line was 200 yards back. The guy shooting the target that I was tending "bounced" about 90% of his shots off the dirt mound directly in front of the target. Most of the holes that I patched were of bullets that had gone through sideways.

Not surprising. Heck, sideways - frontways - backways - anyways you can hits 'um.
