I think a peaceful "revolution" that resulted in a few changes to Constitutional Amendments would go a long way.
On my list would be:
Clarification on the Second Amendment
Separation of school and state
Congressional Term Limits
No Redistribution of Wealth (e.g. an amendment to outlaw socialism)
Modify the Fourteenth Amendment (equal protection) to clearly cover taxation or create a new amendment to do so
Strengthen private property ownership rights
Serious restructuring has happened once before - google Reconstruction Amendments. This came about as a result of the Civil War. It will probably take another very severe crisis to be a powerful enough catalyst to bring about change.
I might run if I thought I could raise a few hundred million dollars.
