Well, I have to say that "Life Alert" was useful to the MIL.
Dr. told her to use her walker....she didn't, fell in her house, broke something...(or the other way around?).
Alarm went off, we were called, had to go there, and the rescue squad was right behind us......
Broke hip...to the nursing home after hospital stay, for 6 years before she passed.
We had to pay for the service.
Develope an app for android that works with a basic pulse monitor, and utilize phone to send txt of gpa cordinates to an Emergency contact list/ response to a txt from the authorities.
Tricky part is conserving battery life for a constant on monitor, perhaps intermittent monitoring every 10 minutes.
Why a cell phone tie in?
One of the only things people carry and has the functionality you need/want.
Also keys.
Which personally, if it was my project, a small key fob that can be pinged by rescuers using 3 points for triangulations, around a disaster area sounds much more feasible/cost and energy efficient.
Via this method there is no always on monitoring, something as small as an rfid chip can be used, and the entire system is very simple.
ah one more device to make us all feel like chipped steers sounds too much like nanny/police state if you ask me.

Sorry my bad, not microwave signal but radio wave signal, we thought about both a mobile phone cover and a key fob, the problem is that you might not have it on you at the time of the disaster. Meaning rescuers will waste time in finding a keychain.
I really don't think it leads to any "police" state idea, it is simply a transmitter which works on a short range.
As a future strategy we are planning on creating a telephone cover which can be used as the transmitter to locate the wristbands.

RFID seems like the smartest option, small basically requires no power source.
It's distance limited however.
No there is no need for manual interaction, the only thing the wearer needs to to is to change the battery when its dead. Other than that the wristband is always working.

We have PASS alarms. They go off in different levels of audible alarms. No movement for so many seconds sets of the first stage alarm that can be reset by shaking it. The firefighter wiggle. If it's not reset with shaking after so many more seconds it goes to stage two and has to be manually reset by pressing the button a few times. Provided of course they actually are working.Quote:

30+ feet seems more than enough for something of this nature. If a larger building was to fall emergency teams would be moving as fast as possible anyways and e aware people were in there. This is at best a supplement in the even that a person is unable to call out/unconscious.Quote:
