Krat - I think you're off base here.
As Rick stated, it is not an issue or a consideration for many because they usually have a firearm with them. For a few - they do have a dedicated truck or bag gun.
I see this as a very pertinent topic by the OP based on gun laws where he lives (not everybody can or wants to move right now) and what he has recently experienced with the fire.
There was certainly no ridicule or argument coming from him - just what I perceived to be a serious question. Remember - we all have different experiences and miles behind us.
OK Crash, then the answer to the OP is NO, just as it was in the first 9 replies from me and others, which do not seem to have been acceptable.
And the problem will not occur again.
No or none is an acceptable answer. I saw it merely as a question looking for what other members here chose to do. If that answer is no, then so be it.

Wilderness Medic, I think that crash is right about you. You were/are asking a sincere question. I think what befalls you is the presentation. It seems the way you say things can be confusing. Not wrong, just a bit hard to understand in entirety. A response is given (the best it can given the confusion) and you're not happy with it because it doesn't match up to what you are seeking, because the responder was confused. This cycle happens a few times and it does begin to appear that you are jerking the proverbial chain a bit. Not that you are, it just somewhat give that impression.
I'm not saying any of that to give you a hard time. Just trying to help you understand where some folks are coming from. KyRat is a great guy. I have met up with him a few times and he is absolutely the most knowledgeable gun guy here. I hope you can make amends with him cause you can learn a lot from him and he is willing to share is knowledge to those that are open minded to learning.
Hehe..okay okay, no more getting sore on anyone else..I have only two..one a Colt 45 pistol a nd an Anschultz ( don't mind the spelling, I always spell it wrong), D series .22 rifle..that 's about the only huntingm protect my self, protect my family, survival, go to war gun that I have.

Ky may be a great guy. I've enjoyed his knowledgeable posts about firearms for several years and appreciated them. However a lot of respect I had for him is going away. How many times has he brought up where I live and tried to use it as a personal insult? Pure rude ignorance. I've lived in KY and I can think of about 49 other states I would live in. But i'm not going to sit here and throw it at him in an insulting way and base what he says off his "Kentucky logic". Everyone has their own tastes and if he chooses to live there, his decision, and I respect he likes it. Just about every post interaction i've had with him so far has been negative, mostly based on his disagreement with my choices/beliefs. I can respect his and not results to the "personal attack and degrading insult stage".
Actually, I think you misunderstood. Most references to California is about the political climate and the anti-gun agenda they seem to be so proud of. No one disses the state otherwise.
We all need to remember that the forum is a two dimensional medium. When you can't see the other speaker it makes it really hard sometimes to understand what they are saying or how they mean it. Everyone is always welcome to attack the message but never the messenger. We can disagree and still be ladies and gentlemen.

In KYs posts it seemed obvious that it was thrown around more as an insult. How is the one liner above "California?" while he's expressing his dislike for me anything else? Post #30 in that thread as well, as I fail to see any "Passive/aggressiveness" mainly for in order for that term to apply one would first have to act aggressively. Please show me in that post where I acted aggressively. Was it the part where I agreed if you can carry a gun everywhere, do it, I don't blame you? (Now i'm being facetious).
