I love Medieval music, most notably Gregorian Chants, along with Renaissance and Baroque.
I like many forms and styles of music, Country being one of the top two (the other is classic rock). While I have many "favorite" country singers, Waylon Jennings was probably my "favorite-favorite" male singer. In particular, I love his song "Sweet Dream Woman." It was on his Good-Hearted Woman album, and unfortunately it didn't get a lot of play. However, it is one whale of a song, particularly suited for someone with his vocal range:

I certainly had a "Sweet Dream Woman" in my younger years ("... the one that you once knew but ya couldn't hold"), and I'm pretty sure all you guys did too. I'm practically sure the ladies had their own version as well.
I like country music , as well, and find very useful...... when ever I'm in bad way..............Sing it backwards, you get your truck back, dog back, girl back, boat back, job back........
Grew up with truck driver twang, and kind been a old rocker ever since........kinda hard to tell theses days, though.

Alan Jackson, Confederate raildroad, garth brooks, brooks and dunn. more ofcourse. no i just have a few country songs on my ipod. Online and Still a guy by brad paisley and Miranda lambert and carrie underwood. lol

I spent all but two of my first 50 years within a 30 mile circle of Nashville, TN. I grew up with most of this stuff. In Nashville, during my childhood, one could turn on the TV on Saturday afternoon and have a series of shows that began with Porter Wagoner at 3:00 and ended with Flat and Skrugs at 7:00. Life on channel 4 went straight from Looney Tunes to C&W.
I went to school with June, Anita and Hellen Carter's kids and played in their back yard while Mama Maybelle strumed a $1,000,000 guitar on the back porch. Lester Flatt lived at the end of my street in the first house I remember and "The Colonel", Elvis Presley's manager lived at the other end of the street in the second house I remember living in. None of that impressed me at the time. The first time I heard Amy Grant sing was in church, when she was 13. she impressed me, even at 13.
I think my first real music impression came when I decided to learn to play guitar. After listening to some really bad thumping, banging and off key strumming my Mom decided she had heard enough and made a phone call. Bashfull Brother Oswald from the Smokey Mountain Boys arrived at the house a half hour latter to show me how to actually tune the instrument and make a couple of chords. Mom had called Lester Flatt but he was busy and sent Oswald. When I heard Oswald play a couple of old mountain tunes on my Sears Roebuck guitar the die was cast.
Everyone seems to be dumping all forms of music not classical or R&R into the big basket of "Country". There's "old time country", Mountain Music, Bluegrass, Texas Swing, Country and Western, Pop-country and some still play what morphed into R&R= "Rock-a-billy". The artists themselves are very specific about what they do.
My all time favorite performer is probably Doc Watson, who passed away in May of this year.

I perfer the old Mountain Music ballads and listen to them often.
However, if you looked at the two racks of CDs in my Jeep you would claim I was a nut job. I have a little of everything in there from Pink Floyd, Clapton and Grateful Dead to Mozart, with blues being the majority of the selection.
No matter what music you have, or what kind of equipment your listening to.....Nothing beats listening to it thru the back seat speaker of a '54 Chevy Convertible, with the top down, at the lake on a hot summer nite.........before life got complicated.........
