I haven't gone up this logger road earlier, so it was like a mini-adventure too. This is about a mile from where I live.

After maybe half an hour of walking on the road I turned in to the woods. Immediately found an old, possible, bear track and some moose droppings. Since I found no moose tracks I assume that the moose had been there months earlier.
Bear track, maybe... The picture is a bit bad, but the claw marks are there and the shape is from a right back paw.

I put my backpack next to it to give a size comparison. That's one big and old spruce in a managed forest!

I decided to "camp" under the spruce and started to build a fire. Under the tree, on the ground there was good amount of relatively dry branches. I used a firesteel and cotton balls to make the fire. And some birch bark I carry in my fire kit.
