I like open, squared off sights. Does that make any sense? I mean I like a square groove in the rear sight, and a squared off front sight. I don't shoot as well with a bead/rounded type front sight. (Even though that's what is on my marlin lever gun, and that is probably my go to gun. That or a shotgun (Rem 870) which also has a bead front sight.) LOL
I'm not really a handgun kind of guy. If I want easy carry and some capacity, I'd probably grab the CZ-82. If I want knock down power, I'd grab the S+W 44 mag.

...Oh...I should add, that my eyes are getting to the point of needing a scope, for alot more than I used to. LOL
All in all, I say use the right tool for the job.

Depends on the gun. My .30-30 doesn't have a scope. But, my .30-06 does. If I can gain an advantage I'll take it.
Cheatins eatin. :innocent:

I use and practice point shooting with my defensive 45. It is plenty accurate for self defense and after 50+yrs I do believe I can hit what I want up to a reasonable distance. I use anything to give me an advantage but this area open sights are enough. It's whatever works for you, mainly for a fast, clean kill. Don't knock point shooting, it's like pointing your finger if you are very familiar with handguns. I kinda learned to take a BB gun and hit another BB in the air back in the mid '60s and it wasn't spray and pray with a rifle and forget sights, you didn't have the luxury of seeing them. I don't hunt much but shoot often so use everything you can afford to help you make a clean kill or hit on a target.
