Tepary beans are finally appearing, but not ready yet.

hot peppers, green/yellow/red sweet peppers, corn, cucumbers, lettuce, egg plant, green beans, strawberries, more lettuce, walla walla onions, beets, kale, and lots of weeds.

More melon, squash blossoms, tepary beans, runty peppers.

What are tepary beans?

Well, my garden is about finished. I harvested the last of the tomatoes I have about 20lbs of unripe ones so some I'm feezing as green tomatoes, others are chutney bound the rest are ripening off on the windowsill. I've also picked the winter squash. All that's left are the winter greens.

The peppers are normally about 6-8" long and green. I don't know why they have been growing so stubby and then turning red.

I just fertilized the pepper plants, and the new crop seems to be getting bigger than the last. The variety is Numex Sandia, and the are generally pretty mild. Perfect for chiles rellenos.

Tepary beans are a native crop here in Arizona. They can really take they heat, and they don't like much water. The flavor is kind of nutty, and the beans themselves are kind of small and flattish.

We got a helluva storm last night. Lots of big hail and huge winds. It did a number on my garden. :(

I managed to salvage some unripe peppers, tepary beans, and an arm-full of shredded chard.

Wow! That's some nasty weather. Sorry it clobbered your garden.

That's a real shame about the garden. It's gutting when nature has a hissy fit and ruins your plans.

My early gardens gave out in July and August. We picked blackberries in May and June and my peaches in late August. I planted mustard, kale, rape and turnip greens and a month ago and I just picked and cooked my first batch of greens last weekend, yummy.
