For all I know, they did. He was frightened when he called and the entire conversation with my husband lasted only a min. or two. I'm certain there IS much more to the story. He's printed out his blog and deleted it from the web, but I asked for a copy to see what it was about. Knowing him as I do and how God fearing he is, there's no way I will find that he's been promoting violence. Most likely more like me and promoting education and speaking without fear.
Seems that when you speak without fear, your not supposed to name names. *roll eyes*

I'm sorry, Sourdough...but I'm not as willing to give up freedoms like you. Do I understand weapons being removed from planes? I sure do! Editing how I feel? No way.

You don't really know that do you? Isn't it possible that he had conversations with someone on the watch list? Had dealings with questionable folks? I don't know the situation and won't venture a guess as to whether he is innocent or not but there may well be more to this story than you are being told. Policing agencies have a lot more to do than stroll around harassing innocent folks. There's more than enough criminals to keep them busy.

Trabitha, I live where I do because I Cherish rights more than you do, I have the right to shoot out of all of my windows, I have the right to stand naked and on my property and bathe. I have the right to play music as loud as I want, I have the right to build anything I want, with no permits, no building codes, no inspectors. I have many-many rights that you or your friend do not have. I can shoot all night long if I choose. I have the right to have a OUTHOUSE with no door....

About that naked part. We don't need to get anything started 'round here like that.

T, one can't truly know another person 100% not even after being happily married to them for many years. And God fearing--while commendable in some circles--is no guarantee of lawful, responsible behavior. Examples abound on both counts.

Benesse and Rick...I certainly hope you're not right in that. While I certainly understand that people aren't always what they would like for you to believe they are...I truly don't want to see that in this particular person. As I said though, I'll only know when I read what it is that he's been posting. In the mean time...I certainly hope that if something like this ever happens to ME, I don't get a "well you asked for it" or "Guess she wasn't the type of person I thought". from people. I've openly let y'all read MY blog and while it's not exactly flattering to many of our leaders, I've never ventured into the realm of "radicle" or "violent".

Like I said before, while I GET what you're saying, I really thought this type of thing would be more upsetting to more people. Hell...the gun at the concert topic got more people up in arms over loss of freedoms than some random person being visited because of a blog. The idea of censoring the web is appalling to me...yet every day we get closer to that being reality in the name of "keeping us safe".

My point of letting y'all know what happened today? Just to let you know that it's happening and it could happen to any of us. He was tracked down because of Facebook of all places. Man...aren't there other people out there who are more of a threat than some far right christian drawing biblical comparisons? You know...those ones that like to make things go boom...just sayin'.

When I get my package and can read what it was that he was posting I'll definitely eat my words if he did promote violence. But if it was nothing more than what I do...I think it's important to make sure we're all aware.
(honestly though...if they waste money on picking on ME...a simple housewife...I think as angry as I would be, I would laugh at them for making the long trip out. LOL!!)

T, we simply don't have enough info in order to get bent out of shape.
I agree with Sourdough on one thing though. It is a different world and we are going through a particularly troublesome period that calls for increased vigilance, even erring on the side of safety for all.

Trabitha,, for obvious reasons, I think you are making a big mistake by having him send you a transcript of the very Material that got him into trouble ,, Just my humble opinion,

( I am also surprised they didnt seize his computer ?)

Without seeing his blog, and what types of things he was writing I cannot really take one side or the other. There is some stuff on the web that I would hope to heck that the authors were being investigated.

Considering they didn't bring any charges, or a warrant, he obviously did nothing wrong. That's why they didn't take his computer. He CHOSE to delete his sites for his family's sake and knowing him how I do, I have no doubt that there's nothing incriminating in the transcripts or he would never send them to me.

I don't believe his story. Sounds real fishy. UNLESS, his blog and words were more than just end-time biblical jibberish (perhaps he was going to have a hand-in bringing the end about). If the government rounded up every looney who thought the end of the world was about to happen, the jails would be full. My area is packed full of people who are bugging out, digging in and predicting the end is near and there is proof in the Bible. We don't have enough jails to house them all. Luckily, there is no crime in believing that the end is near. However, it is a crime to plan events that may lead to it...

I'm beginning to get the impression that it wasn't only about his blog, but the conversations that his followers would create in response to his blogs. Like I said, they didn't tell him to delete it. He did so on his own, because he has a family and doesn't want them to be harassed. They made it clear that they are going to continue to watch him though. If they HAD anything on him they would have confiscated his computer and deleted it all for him. They had his blog, his facebook info and all of his friends. Nothing that they brought to him was something they could charge him with. If you ask me they were trying to scare him...and sadly they did a good job at that.

I've had some clients (including police officers) over the years who have contacted me because they were asked to submit to an "interview" with the authorities. I always urge them, in the strongest possible terms, to decline the interview and to KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT!!!! :sneaky2: In more than one instance, I have had clients sign acknowledgements attesting to the fact that I have advised them to remain silent and that they have chosen to not follow my advice.

However :innocent: some still insist on being interviewed. I refuse to participate for several reasons, not the least of which is that I don't want to become a witness against my own client, and also due to the fact that my presence itself might suggest that I condoned the "interview". Nonetheless, I also urge the clients who refuse the first part of my advice to insist that they be permitted to tape record THE ENTIRE interview in order to avoid any confusion about what was said. EXACTLY what was said, BY EVERYONE THERE.

Thank you. Nice to hear SOMEONE acknowledge that this type of thing doesn't automatically mean that you're some kind of crazy criminal.

Sadly, he doesn't think he did anything wrong so being a "good citizen" he let them in and submitted to the interview.

I don't think anybody was saying that at all. I think most agreed that neither they, nor you had enough facts to make an accurate judgement.

If that's not what people were alluding to...my bad. That's how I took it from at least 2 replies...and honestly when you're that worked up over a friend going through that type of thing you're overly sensitive to things. I can honestly say I don't remember being this angry...ever. (not at y'all, the situation)
