Well no matter what we do leaving AK is a certainty. It is beautiful and we would love to come back to visit, but to live....nah. It's not that special to me. With all the moving around I have done the only place that I have ever missed was IN. We'll just be glad for winter to be over.

This kinda goes back to the mental preparedness survival thang though. You gotta keep your mind occupied on something. Making stuff, fixing stuff, planning stuff, hunting, fishing, reading, exercize, anything other than just sitting there stewing.
I hope your trip back is a good one and you can get the house in order without too much grief or expense.
Coming here was a good thing. We had no real choice to come but we are glad we did. Now we both know what we want and what is important. So I don't regret coming here but will be glad to leave. I'm not even sure we feel like this because of where we live, I think it's more about the uncertainty of where we will be later. I don't like feeling like I have no control of my life and being in the Military is exactly that....they control it. I like to have a plan and goals to work towards but living like this we can't do either. So it's more of a lifestyle change than a relocation of where we live. It's both exciting and scary and still not very much certainty, but at least we know where we'll be living. Guess I just needed to let it out. I don't open up much and usually just deal with it bottled up. It's easier to open up on this forum than to open up to friends and family. Is that wierd? Thanks for listening and the advice...it is very much appreciated.

Not weird at all. Despite what we know about each other there is still a large amount of anonymity so it's easy to share things like that with folks you don't really know.
Your loss of control makes it very important that you put plans to paper. As soon as you do you find yourself back in control of you destiny and starting to feel better about it. It works surprisingly well.
