What piece of junk did you buy because it said it could toss salads and kill mall ninjas at 200 yards and really just ended up in the trash. This could include anything, knifes, guns, fire starting thingys, tents, sleeping bags and anything starting with roncomatic.

I had a Chevy chevet when i was about 21, by the time i was done with it it was running on three cylinders and had no breaks. I used a hammer and screwdriver to knock off the Vin and left it on the side of the road.
I actually had one of those hollow-handle "survival knives" once. It was a 12 step program to get over the trauma.
(note: I now have a CRST folder, a coldsteel folder, and a ka-bar. I tossed the survival knife)
I had one of those $5.00 specials my dear ol mom bought for me when I was around 12 or 13. The blade was bowed when she bought it.:D:mad::confused::o
I bought a fire piston that I can't seem to master. The only thing I seem to be able to light with it, is charred cloth. I think I'm better off just carrying a few bics around, which cost hella-less.
Sgtdraino - that's what a fire piston does. Get your tinder bundle ready, put the char cloth in the fire piston, get an ember on the char cloth, transfer to your tinder bundle.........Quote:

Yeah, I did the Taurus wagon back in the '70s (I think). What a piece of .... and it was yellow. We called it the banana boat. It probably floated but it sure as heck never ran.
Yeah, I get that. I just got the impression that one could generally find stuff in the wild that would also work with a fire piston. So far, that has not been my experience. For me, it seems to be charred cloth or nothing.Quote:

While charr works In my opinion Chaga or Tinder Fungus is superior hands down available free on wounded birch trees and also fairly cheap on the internet. Regardless which one you choose it must be dry and you must have a proper tinder bundle prepared to be succesfull. Heres an idea that might help:Quote:

every tent i've ever bought. maybe a bibler someday, but nothing in my price-range holds a candle to a simple rain fly/tarp.
i've bought and subsequently lost a lot of suriken/throwing knives over the years, but i've gotten so much fun out of them that they don't count.

If I remember correctly, I was told to stay OUT of the North FL meat and greet thread. Someone suggested I didn't live down there and didn't have any business in the thread. Don't remember who that was but I always do as I'm told. Always.
