Good luck. Enjoy yourself. Stay safe. (psssst...make sure you don't wear that reindeer hat)

But crash, that hat is part of my plan to fit in with the crowd!
I don't know Nell. You might want to think about hanging out with the crowd that's carrying the rifles.;)
Ya kinda got a point there crash, gee, what would I do without friends like you??:D
Well now, thats a whole different type of hunting, and was more of an oops than actual hunting!Yep my first time going out with a gun to kill a deer if I am lucky and patient enough!
P.S. My insurance company was NOT amused, eviDENTally, this is not an approved method of bringing home the groceries....
Back up woman, what firearm you using? Who you going with?
the season opened monday saw 3 deer in 3 days they were a little far for the 30-30 at 200 yards. thinkin of putting a scope on for next year. good luck.
Or you could practice your tracking/stalking to get a closer shot.
i's hard to stock an old wise whitetail that's been shot at a million times an is about to walk back into the bush. the only time i ever really stalk deer is off season while camping or fishing. usually when hunting there about 50yards but theres so little lately. theres been a big increase in predators around here lately.
Gotcha. Hey, could be that whitetail that's been shot at a million times is old and wise because people are taking 200 yard shots.:D
Good hunting Nell and stay safe.
Uh-oh!
I'm going with the guy my mom was dating when she found out she had and battled cancer, kind of like the father I wished I'd had.
He mentioned a 410,but said we could figure that out when I get to his place,he has a small arsenal of guns to choose from, since he owned a Gun shop in New York at one time before moving down here to be closer to his father. My oldest son is talking about going with us as well.He has an old 20 guage that he inherited from his father that he has been wanting to try out.
don't worry trax every thing will be ok (psst hey deer i think your safe but either way don't make her mad by taunting her just walk by slowly look at her then run way really fast)
Thanks for the vote of confidence WE!:p
If they guy has an "arsenal" ask him for something like around a .243, 25-06, 7mm-08, in that range, big on accuracy, good velocity, low recoil.
Hey if you don't get one using the rifle, you can always resort to your old drive-by method, practiced as you are in it ;) Good luck.
If you start doing that Nell, we might have to start calling you Crash.
Saturdays opening day down here too, tomorrow you will be joining a fraternity of others who sleep little, get up way too da** early, walk in the woods while its dark only to climb a tree and take a nap.
welcome to deer hunting at its best!:D
theres been a major increase in wolves and coyotes. we were mostly around hadasville but also around elma. theres been a major increase in both places. we were out today and didn't see a single deer all day.Quote:
where has there been a big increase in predators? What predators?
Ah. Hunter taunting.....it's one of their favorite pastimes.
Well,my hunting trip did not happen, seems hunters don't like to hunt in the cold rain in this area!Sad,as I was looking forward to it,but hopefully next weekend!
Cold Hope, real cold.;)
Do they use rifles in Ohio or are they restricted to Shotguns only for Deer....?
I was up and dressed for it at 2:30 this morning, and yup i knew it was cold and raining, still I was ready, was getting ready to leave when he called to say it was too cold and rainy, ggrrrr.
well this won't make you feel any better right now i am eating my favorite deer stew
[QUOTE=nell67;82041]Not sure about ohio, but in Indiana it is restricted to shotguns.
How to impress women.......Don't even know where they live..... me dummy.
Well, You could go shopping for a Remington Model 870 "Youth DEER" in 20 Gauge, with iron sights. And send the bill to Trax.......:)
I am going to order one of the exact same firearms for myself. I like the shorter length of pull for winter when I wear 5" of clothing. I have a Rem 11-87 "youth" 20 Gauge now but it has no sights.
Nell, Remington's Part #25555 You know Trax want's you to have good equipment.
WOW, wow.....Just talked to two of my firearms suppliers. They both said it is a total zoo. Business up 800% for the last two weeks. The jobbers, and wholesellers out of inventory. Can't get product. Wow.....They are going to shop it on monday, for me.
