For BOV you can fill a plastic 2-liter coke bottle with: cup of rice, cup of beans, cup of dehydrated veg, baggies with: AA batteries, pen light, meds, hard candy, cash, spices, suture kit, wrap the bottle with cord, bungee, gauze, use the empty bottle is a vessel, or fill with hot water for a warmer/heater, on and on... you get my drift. Actual bottle weighs nothing, waterproof, lots of stuff in it, its great. Give one to each family member to keep in their cars.

That is a good idea. I have found that peanut butter jars are better because they have wide mouths (easier to put stuff in and take stuff out). Gatoraide bottles are also good.
I see being able to stuff all this into the bottle, but would you have to cut it open to get the stuff out, so it would basically be a one time use kit right.
Nope...Items are small grab the baggy edge and pull, does take some manipulating but it is meant to use only in emerg. It floats too. Altho a wide mouth would be grt, I like the lightweight seethru bottle and 2 liter is good size. If I could find a wide mouth, lightwt, 2liter that would be even better. Any suggs.
My peanut butter jar is wide mouth, light weight, and see through. But it is only a liter. If you go to the grocery store, I bet you can find a jar that fits your needs perfectly.

I have always leaned to a metal coffee can for this purpose. Put stuff in and seal the lid with duct tape. Works to heat water/melt snow. You can put a candle inside and huddle over it with a blanket to keep somewhat warm. You can use it to make a hobo stove. The plastic coffee cans are good for storage also, but you can't make some items from them when needed.
Kroger coffee cans are still metal. I like them. I also like the peanut butter jars that FM mentioned.
I dont remember the brand but I bought some pretzels that cam in a clear jug wide mouth and had a handle. would like to find some of them again.
Oh, yeah. I think my wife bought some of those at Costco. Been a while, though.

I'm a fan of the plastic square coffee cans. They have handles that allow lashing them down.

It's helpful the way I drive.
I don't really like the idea of a bottle shaped kit, doesn't pack well, doesn't carry well, and in the case of a soda bottle, would be a real PITA to get what you wanted out when you needed it.
I more of a carry bag guy, using gal size zip locks to hold stuff, I don't want wet.
The zip locks can also be used as water containers and still have the bag.
If I wanted to bury a JIC stash, I would consider a bottle, but thats about it.
A tough clear wide mouth bottle would be gatoraid in the quart size.

Just thought of something...I think I have an old tube that's about 2' long and about as wide as a 2lt bottle of soda...but it's got a wide mouth and a screw on top. I think it was the container that was used to hold rip-ties (is that what they are called?) Man, I THOUGHT that thing would come in handy. Little did I know just HOW! Cooool!

Okay, I took the advise and got a bottle with an open neck.
Used a Nestle Quick bottle with a handle to hook things on.
I do not have the bungees and cord on yet. The hooks can hold the
cords, camp saw and hack saw.
In the pic are:
bean can for cooking, water bottle, sterno can, self-stick wound wrap, exam gloves, 3x3 gauze squares, topical anesthesia, tube of triple antibiotic, 3 sterile telfa pads, 1 cup pinto beans, 1 cup rice, 5 assorted suture material w/needles, handful of hard candy, LED flashlight/radio/red light/alarm, potable aqua tabs and neutralizers, pocket knife, assorted sml lures, hooks, and fishing line, stainless wire, mirror, magnesium firestarter, betadine sterile swab pads, and betadine solution, non-adhesive sterile bandage, compass, space blanket, 4 packs of Off mosquito wipes, water bag, 6 assorted meds incl. pain killer, ibuprophen, tranquilizers, 4 of those climbing/packing hooks that screw closed for hooking things to your backpack, and one that has a rubber circle to hold your water bottle. I still need a magnifying glass, snare wire, money, and ammo in it.
What do you think? Oh, and it weighs almost 4 lbs.

yes, after reviewing again (this is why I'm posting it all; for the help) it is weighted on things like the meds (I have tons of it at home), It needs to be more rounded to fit any probable situation. It has those screw hook things to attach to or to attach things to so that it can be added to a belt or backpack. I am making them for permanent residence in each car for family members. I will of course have the larger BOB also in my own cars for larger equip stuff. Clothes, tarp, tools, optics, cooking, sleep, ...kitchen sink
