Any plans for passing along preparedness knowledge?
Personally, I have a wife, kids and grandkids so my will provides for the disposition of material items.
I am taking it with me.
Personally.. I've showed my wife how to use some of my gear.. Just hope my wife and kids could make use of my supplies should something happen to me!
I got a lot of stuff from my grandpa when he died a few months ago. Mostly buckets of wheat, a wheat grinder, shelf's for storage, and a lot of hand tools. I was a little late to the frenzy. My grandpa verbally specified a few things to give to certain people, but mostly it was a free for all. My uncle, dad, and aunts didn't want much, so the grandkids took most of it.
That's exactly why the will needs to specify everything. No arguments, no hurt feelings. Then if someone wants to give item A to someone else, that's their business. It's not like I'll care.
I'd like to pass on the things I know rather than the crap I own.
My stuff is so old and beaten up, I don't know if anyone would want it...but it goes to my god son, except for my truly ancient snowshoes which go to his mom. Considering he is only 7 months old and my junk so antiquated already, one day he can probably sell it to a museum and finance his college education with it.

Yep, sounds like most of us have been raising the kids to at least be knowledgeable of the physical preparations and the skills it takes to use them, so passing on to the next generation would be the best of all worlds since it would mean that we did not have to use our preps... meaning that the disasters and situations causing their use did not materialize. And, in the meantime, we got to accumulate some great toys, go for some great hikes and camping experiences, and still have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you could take care of yourself for some period of time even in some of the worst conditions. Avoid Probate!
My sons plan to open a second hand outdoor "STUFF" store with my stash.

I have a habit of out-fitting DW, DD, SIL, GC, Nephew(now hunting partner), so they are already pretty well out-fitted.
Intresting how things just seem to get passed along, and have marveled on how much "stuff" I use and cherish have been passed along to me from GF, Uncles, Father, FIL, BIL etc. ( moments like this seem to occur when in the garage/shop, wood stove going, work done, cold-one in hand, getting "mystic", if you know what I mean)
Knife (old Mora) I used to clean my recent kill in La., was passed along from my FIL, so it was sorta like him helping me one more time..........
The recent passing of a hunting partner(BIL) resulted in a lot of his stuff, that no one else wanted (?), and has been passed along to me and in turn also passed along to others.
I'm bad about selling stuff like this, I give away alot of stuff, or trade...........?
