emergency fire starter.
Hears an ideal for an emergency fire starter, I took my mini mag light, from my kit, and two small pieces of wire, from my kit, along with some still wool and dryer lent. The wire was put in to the holes where the bulb goes and pressed to the steal wool and the lint. The only problem I had was the batteries dont last long, but is did get some good sparks and the lint started to bun.

Use extra fine steel wool and you won't need the dryer lint. Have your kindling ready - won't burn too long.

Oh, a Hoodlum!
Dr. Ron Hood demonstrates that on his survival videos. I've posted about it quite some time back.

I have heard about that method but never tried it. I have always thought you needed at least 6 volts DC to get steel wool to light.

I posted on my results on this after Sarge said it could be done. You can do this with a light bulb Mag lite but not the LED version.
