I have come to realization that the most dangerous animal of all is boys. I have a little girl who is just down right beautiful. All the neighborhood boys are always knocking on my door wondering if she can play. I know now what a dads true fears are. Anyone else have this problem, and do yall think that snares or fall pits would stop them?
I have a couple of family heirloom shotguns over the fireplace. My dad's Damascus barrelled double hammer and a Deer Slayer Nitro Hunter that was my uncle's and introduced me to hunting (and a sore shoulder).
When my daughter was about nine or ten a neighborhood kid stood in my kitchen and told me how much he liked my daughter. I told him that was swell. Everytime a guy told me that though I wound up shooting them and hanging the gun over the fireplace. He looked past me at the two shotguns hanging over the mantel then back at me. He did an about face and left the house. His family moved about two months later. I don't think I influenced that but ........
A buddy of mine, when his daughter got to be dating age, would always make a point of cleaning his firearms whenever some young paramour showed up to take her out. Never said much, just sat there and cleaned them. I don't think they ever had a lot of trouble with any of the guys she dated, she's married now and he hunts with his son-in-law
I raised two sons. As much as I thought it would have been nice to have raised a daughter, I'm not sure I could have handled it once she got older. All it would have taken was one young man to lay a hand on her in anger or against her will and I would have been in a world of trouble by the time I was done.
I've managed to raise my sons to have exceptional manners. Their mother managed to instill in them the respect they should have for the opposite sex. Couldn't be more proud.

I may have posted this before, but anyway....have a friend who when his daughter was 15 (OMG she's 39 now) had a rule. Any new boy had to come to the house and meet Frank and stay in the living room for the 1st hour of the date. Frank would meet them at the front door, shake their hand "firmly" (Frank is 6ft 6in and about 265lbs). He would then clean some of his guns, all the while the wide eyed young man was staring at all of his awards for marksmanship and spoils of an African safari. He never did have a problem with the young lads.
Thanks for the advice. So showing off my guns is probaly the best route for this...darn....was hoping to try snares and fall pits but then the familys might complain. lol
I'd save the snares and fall pits for the occasion when he brings her home late from a date. (by late I mean after 4 pm)

There was a lot of f and mf in the flick. Chris tries to keep it at PG-13 otherwise it will be blocked from some businesses and Lord knows we can't have folks actually working at work...can we Trax?
I have a daugther that has the same problem, boys, boys, and more boys. But, I'm mean, ugly and a big arsehole. And it's only going to get worse. I mean, I will be getting meaner and uglier.

I used to worry about Sara a bit. She is, after all, my only daughter. Now that she's 19, has two years of college and a year in the full-time working world under her belt (yes, she started college at age 16) - I've realized she is more than a match for most any young man out there. She is the best pistol shot of any of my kids, carries a can of mace in her purse, but most of all, just has a presence guaranteed to bring most anyone up short - if she so chooses.
Strange thing is, in the last year or so, we've become very close and spend a lot of time talking. We never were close when she was younger.

Know what ya mean RBB, I have two daughters, one 15, other 25. The 25 year old one is out on her own and we are more like friends then dad & daughter. Now with the 15 year old I am still the mean old dad. she moved in with her mom as she lets her do anything she wants. hard for old dad to see though.
