I've had this large mole on my arm for like 2 years. Lately its been bleeding and crusting. It's had this dark brown color at the bottom. When I feel it, its feel sort of hard and lumpy. My mom was saying I should go to the doctor ASAP. She was saying it could be a skin cancer like melanoma which can be fatal if it spreads.
Oh, crap. I passed out. I got all dizzy reading about the crusty part. Oh, the room's spinning again.
A sudden change in a mole is a warning sign for cancer. Have your PCP check it out. It may be nothing but on the off chance that it is cancer you want to catch it as early as possible.

I had a basal cell removed several years ago. They are a very common form of skin cancer and far less invasive than a melanoma.
Go to the doctor. Have them remove it and test it. I just had several removed from my back. Simple procedure took a couple of minutes. It's not worrh taking a chance. Go to the doctor in the morning.
You need to let a doctor look at that even if it one at a free clinic.
My mother had skin cancer on her nose. They has to cut a hole in her nose and then had to get skin grafts. They took the donor skin from her hip.
I first noticed this mole like 2 years ago. It had this brown color at the bottom. It would bleed occassionally, but only when I picked at it. But now its been bleeding in the middle in the night. 3 times in the past week. I wake up and I have a blood stain on my shirt or sheets. The other day it started bleeding just from me touching it. It sort of feels bigger compared to a few months ago also. My mom says that I have to get it checked, she used to be a nurse. Because if its skin cancer it could kill me if it spreads into the bone or somewhere else.
Listen to your mom. Get it checked.
Best to get your butt to a DR very soon. In my line of work skin cancer was very common and most men including me have had a place removed usually on the nose or ear. We worked in the sun without any protection for years. I have a friend in St. Jo. that had it last year and the little mole on her back was like a spider web going everywhere, but she caught it early, so GET IT CHECKED!!
Well I finally saw a dermatologist today. It was a pretty quick visit, only talked to the doctor for a few minutes. He set up an appointment for a "Shave Biopsy" on my mole this Friday.

Very bad news I got today. I went to the doctor and he told me the results of the biopsy. I have a very deep melanoma of 6.1 mm and it's very likely it has spread. They refered me to a cancer center for more extensive procedures to be done so they could determine the staging.

You'll get through this fine. "The overall five-year survival rate for Caucasian patients with malignant melanoma was 88% in 1993." That was 15 years ago. Medicine has advanced light years since then.
