How unusual!

Welcome to WS.
Once you have posted enough comments or whatever the requirements, write a thread in the gardening section about how p-mantis help control pests and photos of your operation to raise them. Links to photos in a share site like photo-bucket work well, but occasionally it fails as do all these photo posting methods.
I was a master gardener for many years, disappointed that mostly just Japanese lady bird beetles were common in my area, need more and diverse natives.

Hello from a misfit myopic science teacher, certified in biology and chemistry. Your job sounds cool. I hope you are able to visit local schools and put on demonstrations - that kind of lesson wakes students up and they might even learn something:thumbup1:

Hello and welcome from Pennsylvania.

I actually raised some of the critters about 10 years ago. Mostly by accident. I happened to latch onto a pregnant female that created an egg sac in the container. I placed it in the garden with grand ideas of baby praying mantises invading the garden. Once they hatched and immediately disappeared I discovered they leave the area where they are born to keep from being eaten by the adults. Another great plan bit the dust although all my neighbors were probably pleased they started seeing mantises in their gardens.

Glad you could join us. What do your praying mantis eat?
