A guy goes out and has a great 3 day trip enjoying nature testing his kit, and filming it for others to watch. I didn't see anything wrong with it.

Most of his kit is way too heavy for me. But, I like that millbank bag. That might be the missing piece of my perfect water filter system.

I did not carry that much gear for a 4 month jaunt on the AT!

If you look real close you can see rooftops through the brush of his "wild camp". There is a church steeple in view over the top of the tent and the level of noise from the diesel trucks on the nearby highway is insanely irritating.

Why not just admit you are in the back yard?

Many of the British preppers, although living in a population dense land, are seeped deeply in the tradition of the "bug out". They seem to expect GB to return to primal forest within two or three days of "SHTF", which they are assured will eliminate 99% of the population, leaving the guy with three cans of beans and a slingshot to rule the world.

Although I agree with you 100%, I do think we need to give them a little more slack. Kinda like when people who are hiking the AT think they are in wilderness. Do the best you can with the resources around you. When I was a teenager in San Antonio, I didn't have the internet to play on, so I would find all the non-developed spaces in between neighborhoods and parks. They were usually covered in scrub oak and juniper. That is where I would "practice bushcraft", although I didn't know that that is what I was doing because the internet wasn't there telling me that. I could walk for miles through the stuff....or walk 100 ft in another direction to a subdivision or major road. The kids in my current neighborhood are spoiled. We live 1 mile from real mountains and wilderness areas with cougars and foxes and deer and...cows. There is a reservoir a mile away that is stocked with trout. At the end of summer, my 12 yr old son figured out that the reservoir was a neat place to hang out and try and catch fish or crawdads. Now he is mad because he wasted most of his summer sitting at home playing video games. The fact that the Bri'ish are realizing that they don't have to leave the island to find wil'erness is kinda cool.

Have to admit...didn't watch the vid....out here at "The Place" my portable modem is only 1-1/2 G, I guess....buffering, buffering...

So, WWO, I am gonna ask for a reason why I would want to "off myself"?

Another award for "participation", "slack cutting" and "team effort" coming right up.

It is the entire flawed concept of the "bug out" in a country with a population density of over 400psm which I have issue with. It is like saying"the world is ending so I am going to bug out to the vacant lot next door".

There are some less dense areas is Scotland and Wales, but they are less dense for a reason.

This made me laugh. It reminds me of my sister-in-law saying we need to plan to bug out to the mountains. There are reasons why the mountains are sparsely populated. In fact, out here in the west, if there isn't a town already there...good luck. The towns are located in those spots for a reason. Of course some "towns" are overpopulated with respect to their available resources, and are now stealing from other places (think L.A.).
