Tried something a little different - Cotton carbon patch
I found some wonderful large amount of pure cotton in a recent package from Amazon for non prescription vitamins. A really large amount... I had no idea that cotton could be that plentiful when picked....anyway would not it be better than denim or shirts to catch a spark? If Cotton was pulled apart and larger would it not light better? Well maybe not. Or maybe I did something wrong. I set up a camera and everything went south after 5 minutes. I had a tin- small hole on top and I stuck it on a Backpacking burner and after 5+ minutes - it stopped smoking and was reduced to black and 50% smaller. It sucked at catching a spark - I was confused.
So I stuck it back in the tin - fired up the burner and went 5+ more minutes and more smoke came out (flipped it over) and guess what it turned brown. And the smoke stopped... Now it catches a spark really well and works far much better - had something to do with the angle of looking at the tin. So make sure the cotton is carbonized and black may not be the best color.
I wont show the video - its a travesty.
Just sharing. Next time over cooking cloth and cotton may be better.
