This year a plane crash happened deep in the woods of Kentucky and a little girl in the dead of night was able to hike a long distance in a straight line towards a light. Later we were informed her granddad had taught her some survival skills.


So here is the question very open ended >>>What would you teach a granddaughter?

Don't trust men.

I have been teaching my granddaughter how to camp and make fire. We also talk about how to find our way home. She is 7. I want her to be a self sufficient young woman just as my parents taught me. Both of my children laugh about how they are so independent and learned it from me.

I read the story when it first came out. A little bit of skill and some luck resulted in a happy (somewhat) ending for her. Teaching kids skills so that they can rely on themselves are invaluable lessons in life.
