Rainy overnight with scouts
I took the scouts on a training backpacking trip. This is to prepare them for the weeklong in July. We will have a 2 nighter in June as well. The weather called for rain the whole time. It ain't trainin unless it's rainin. When we started, no rain but overcast skies. We walked a little under 2 miles to the spot. It started sprinkling, so we quickly got the tents up and gear inside. The rain did come. They had no luck with the fire....but I didn't help them at all. They also didn't want to sit in front of the fire while it rained. After the tents were set up, we had a quick dinner of ramen noodles. Then they all went to hang out in the tents the rest of the night. The next morning it was oatmeal.... a quick lesson in how to poo in the woods, tents taken down, and back to the cars. I brought my 8 year old son and we shared my newly constructed tarp and net tent. I also tested out the ILBE with gear for the two of us.

The ILBE performed admirably, having enough room for 2 sleeping bags, 2 sets of clothes, 2 sets of food, a tent..etc
