where did all the road kill go are times that hard up? don,t know a few years ago
one could find possum a plenty,coon deer,skunk,. but these days one would be hard pressed to find anything.
gotta buy our meat at the store now (just kidding) but seriously where are all the dead critters going?
has anyone noticed a lack of road kill in you neck of the woods so to speak?
Nope we are loaded with deer and coons as road kill. Lots and lots.
Not at all...daily splatters around here. Nothing good like a viable deer but plenty of roadkill in general.
Our roadkill generally also involves ambulances. The meat goes to the food bank or who ever is next up on the list that the troopers keep who can come right away to get it.
Plenty of roadkill and buzzards out this way.
Lots of turkeys and beaver and muskrats here. I saw a big old yote the other day. Not too many deer this time of year.
Pretty soon it will be turtles and skunks and porcupines.
Cyclical.
Its a government plot.

Seeing a lot of skunk and armadillo here, more than I've ever seen.
The usual deer, raccoon, and coyote.

I am an expert on deer road kill, but I generally do not share what I know. As an amateur radio operator and expert on police communications have something to add to the thread. I loaded state local police into a scanner. depending on you location you may not be able to do this - then listened to police car accidents involving deer and ran out to local places to pick them up in a truck at the time. I no longer have the Dodge truck. I would pull in in front of the scene, ask politely if they want the deer. Don't laugh, don't smile, and go "wow you are lucky you were not hurt...." Then ask ... what would you like to do with the deer? If multiple vehicles are there I would wait for them to leave and pick up the fresh kill. In general with my wife or mother in law we would process the deer in 3-4 hours and using only a meat tenderizer with three freezers fill them every Sept. The wife is tiered of deer meat.
