Bobcats hunting in my front yard
My daughter spotted this juvenile bobcat and it's mother outside her window this morning. Hopefully they will protect our pansies from the cotton tails that have been feasting on them. I enjoy watching the circle of life outside our windows. There are so many rabbits and squirrels in this suburb of over 200,000 near a very large Texas city that there is always plenty of prey to spare. The predator like bobcats, coyotes and raptors are unfortunately not as common.

She took several photos this was the best one, I briefly spotted the mother, but could not get a photo and did not want to go out there and risk spooking them. Our yard intentionally has much more brush than most peoples because I enjoy all forms of wildlife, reminds me of my childhood.
Wildlife Management Common Sense in Texas
In Texas and I suspect in most other States and Provinces in North America and the world issues with wildlife are not really with the animals but with educating the public. Here is what the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has posted about several common wild animals:

Here is a class for those interested in urban wildlife management in the San Antonio area last May of 2014, similar classes are available throughout the year all around Texas and probably in most States:

Here is a document describing the policies of one suburban city in north Texas and how and why their policies and procedures have changed over the years for the benefits of the animals and people and city budget. OMG a city council and managers with common sense, hey I would like to live there!!!
