appendicitis
My kid was coming to the tipp of the mitt from Hawaii for a visit. Within hours of her flight, she started to get pains in her abdomen. Went in and it is appendicitis. Emergency surgery and she is now healing up. As much as this is a stinker, the upside is that it didn't happen half way across the ocean or at a strange and unknown hospital.
-
No kidding! Glad to hear she is doing well. Hopefully she can still enjoy some of the trip despite circumstances.
-
And she is there recovering with you. Glad to hear she's doing okay. Hope she's up and around by Christmas.
-
Boy, that was a lucky break! And to recuperate at home with mom and dad makes it less of a bummer for the holidays.
Relieved for y'all that it worked out the way it did.

I had appendicitis in college. It felt like someone shot me in the abdomen.
I'm glad she is recovering and doing well at Mom and Dad's house.
-
Good to hear your daughter is doing fine and healing near home, and she will be home with mom and dad while she recovers and during the holiday.
-
Wow, that's got to be the worst best timing ever. Hope she heals up quick.
-
Glad to hear the surgery was successful and that she is recovering. Prayers sent.
-
Thanks for the replies. Actually she lives in Hawaii and was getting ready to come home for a visit when this happened. The upside was that she had the surgery back in Hawaii rather than half way across the ocean or in a unknown place in between here and there.
-
The timing was lucky! Nowadays the surgery isn't even so bad (compared to the old days). I think it's a lap procedure now, just a couple small incisions.
-
That is good news indeed....timing can make all the difference in the world....
Fast recovery and have a good holiday.....
-
So sorry tho that you will not be together for Christmas.

Very odd timing, several years ago I had an emergency appendctomy (Sp?) just daze before Xmas too, I hurt REAL bad and was never sicker in my life... started dry heaving stomach acid since nothing was left to heave up.
She was VERY lucky in timing, I remember watching that crab show on Discovery (forget the name) and one of the guys went down with appdx, CG had to fly a chopper out to get him, guy was in some serious distress. Having to go that long in that kind of pain is pure agony!
Glad everything went well, it takes a few weeks to heal but after a few months I was never even able to tell anything happened, even back into my exercise routine. But the first few weeks, my guy hurt to even move. (A scalpel seams to have that side affect...)

My 8 year old grandson was sick for 2 days the end of October, to the point of begging his momma to take him to the hospital the evening of October 30th, the next morning, my son took him to the ER, and he missed Trick or treating because he just coming out of the anesthetic from having an emergency appendectomy. Poor kid could hardly stand up straight for nearly three weeks. He is fully recovered now, and I still want to knock his moms head off for not taking him when he was begging her to.

appendicitis can turn bad, my neighbour had his appendix burst. Thankfully it was caught in the nick of time.
Surgery has come a long way. My daughter flew into detroit a few hours ago so she will be home for Christmas. That's a fast recovery.
-
Well, she aint recovered... but well enough to travel.
