Rice
I did some extra work this week and earned some spending money. One trip to Sam's Club and I got myself a bag of rice and a bag of sugar.
Rice is up 100% sense last November. So I got a bigger bag. I figure it will only go higher in the next few months.
I like to keep 50lbs of sugar on hand. It has gone up 25% in the last month. So rather then wait, I picked up a bag now.
The rice is sealed in 6 gal barrels with Gama lids that screw on and off. I have enough rice now to last the rest of the year.
I also went nuts on the Mac Noodles. They were on sale and I filled a 4gal bucket with what I bought.
I really do not see the stores running out of food. At least any time soon. What I see is the cost to feed you and yours rising with each passing day. This is just my way to keep the cost down, where I can afford to eat.
I wonder how many of you stock up in order to cut costs!
$3.42 a gal for gas today!

I mowed the grass for the first time this season and used a five gallon can I had purchased last fall. As I poured the gas in the mower I'm thinking, "This is probably $1.20 gas. What an antique!".

I buy in bulk to cut costs. I stock up not so much in a sense to save money, but to be prepared for a time in case I can't resupply. I've been through enough bad storms, and some of the pictures that I've seen on T.V. (Katrina, Andrew, Dora) have made me vow to never be a victim. So I kind of follow War Eagles motto/signature.
