Sorry Tunick - I wouldn't. When I walk into the woods for a period of time I'm carrying what I will need for the trip and then some. I don't even go on a day hike without knives, fire kit, first aid, water, energy bars, cordage, fishing kit,......well you get the picture. Not to say that something won't happen while out, possibly extending my stay....but I will have more equipment than you list and if my stay is longer than planned, somebody will be looking for me.
Shelter, fire, water, food.
I guess, after the second day I would go home.
If I was going to stay longer, I would have prepared and taken more food.
I'd find an old tin can somewhere, and use it to boil water for drinking. Then I'd build a fire and make some potable water. I'd get a second can, sterilize it and use it to store purified water. Then all while I'm looking for cans I look for food, like berries, squirrels, cattails. Also I'm looking for firewood and shelter places and materials. A cave or some place with an overhang would be nice to conserve heat from a fire and keep the rain out.
Even if I find just an old beer can (and you can find them in just about any woods) I'd use that for boiling water. The top is easily cut off with a pocket knife. I accidentally punctured a can of Pepsi one day with my pocket knife and it sprayed all over. I never knew it was so easy to cut those d@mn cans.
I would probably sleep in the barn and sneak inside for whatever I needed. In other words I wouldn't put myself in that position voluntarily.
I think the OP meant involuntarily you are in this situation. So now what do you do?
two days worth food and a sleeping bag sounds like a over-nighter to me.
i always camp by a creek with my hunters.
after the two days we go back to camp, sooner if he bags out.
so where is your Q going?
I'd immediately eat and drink everything I had, do a bunch of stretches and lunges, gently lay out my sleeping bag, pull out the scalpel in my firstaid kit, slit my wrist and kiss my azz goodbye for being such an idiot for going out so unprepared.
Or turn around and go to the pub to have a cold pint.
A quick search of the forums will probably provide the answers to this question. I have only been on here a few weeks and I have found the threads on here a wealth of information.
tunick, you should have opened up your scenario by being a little more detailed than your OP.
You have stated no reason for "walking into the forest" in the first place or a time element of how long. A lot of us boogie off into the woods on a regular basis and usually have some sort of preparation with us.
Is it an accidental survival situation or just a planned outing?
1. Enjoy the moment then go home and get ready for work. or,
2. Say "oh, crap"! Start surviving and figure out the next step.

I have practiced fasting so I am pretty comfortable with the hunger pains.
I would look for a source of water to get some fish
anyway unless I was dropped off somewhere, just wouldn't happen... I always have gps/maps/compass.
hopefully its not a drought though, can pretty easily drink rain water...
I also weight train regularly, hike, and run long distance (half marathons/marathons) I think I could cover ground back to some civilization...
you can always cover yourself in mud to conserve body heat also
So, I'm in the woods for a two day hog hunt. Back on the other side of Spooky Mnt. and I break my left (weakest) ankle. It's the end of the second day, wife expects me home about an hour after sunset.
Well, if ya know me, don't carry a sleeping bag, but rather a wool blanky and a tarp. So, everything else being the same.
Cut a piece of the tarp, it's canvas, of course. Wrap and brace the ankle, get some sort of crutch constructed. Build a fire, eat the last of my food, drink all but a cup of my water, wrap up in my blanky and the rest of the canvas tarp, loosen my belt, raise the injured leg and try and get a little sleep.
Next morning, wake up, in pain. Get the fire going again, make a cup of hot tea or buillon. Start the slow walk down up and then back down the mountain, in pain. If I make it the 4 miles, great, if not, I will def. position myself at the end of the day at the creek. It's dooable, it's my goal from the morning. Have to set goals.
At the creek, make a fire, boil some water, make an even bigger fire, make a freak'n monster (totally controlled) fire, and wait for company.
Between my wife calling the PD, the smoke from my fire, I will def. have a visitor.
How's that, not what ya expected.
I can go a few days without food, and water would be my quest. If I have water, hot water, I have hot buillon or tea. OH, you say I did not bring tea bags, ahhhh.......you can make tea from pine bark and needles and they are all over the freak'n place.
