Arizona edibles
Hello everyone. I've been searching all day and can't find a good list of edible plants in southern arizona. I'm was raised in southern AZ close to the Mexican boarder. I know a few plants that can be eaten such as, prickly pear(both fruit and pads),seed from the barrel cactus, mesquite pods and most ever greens can be made into a good tea with abundant vitamin c. There are a few I know can not be eaten from personal experience such as wild onions (ended in a a very interesting tri to the hospital when I was 13) and some roots. I would really love a good list hopefully with pictures of common edible plants in southern AZ. Thanks you to anyone who can help.

There is a list down the left of this page for "Texas and the Southwest" http://www.foragingtexas.com/ . If you click on each plant name, it links to pictures. This is a well-respected site that specifically covers your area.
For the whole country (including your area), I highly recommend the website http://www.eattheweeds.com/ for plant descriptions, pictures, videos covering each plant, and a great forum where you can get help with identification and uses of plants.

Wild onions are perfectly edible. I suspect what you found was the similar death camas, very poisonous. If that was it you were lucky.
