Survival Course - Alaska

Here is a site where a man who lives near Anchorage, sent his two sons to a survival course, LTR (Learn To Return), where both classroom instruction and then field instruction are presented. They also run a one week course.

Heh, I know them. They are a pretty cool family.

That should be a mandatory course in every school including First Aid/CPR.
But since it's not, I don't understand why more parents don't enroll their kids in courses like that the way they do in other extra curricular activities.

Many of our village schools do have them along with hunting and fishing classes.

I would love to visit AK and take a course like that!
