Who wants to move to the Amazon

I spent about 6 months in the Ecuadorian Amazon during 2012. I was down there volunteering and spent a lot of time learning survival skills from locals. Ever since I returned to the States, I have been wanting to get back down there and got OTG in the Amazon. I am looking to see if anyone is interested in coming with. There are only minimal preparations other than a passport & plane ticket. My current timeline is to leave no later than January 2014. Message me on here, or respond to cashinaz at yahoo, com.

I wouldn't go with someone naive enough to just "hop on a plane to S. America". However, I do not feel the need to get to know everyone in the forum, nor does contacting me mean that I automatically want to go to the Amazon with you. I have experience in wilderness survival and know that it takes a great level of trust to walk into the woods with someone and even more to go to another country. So, I am interested in speaking with individuals with similar interests and once both (or all) parties agree it is a good fit, then we will plan and go from there.

Then why not offer up a little background on yourself? I would doubt many, if any, will contact you with no information to go on. You could be Freddy Krueger for all we know. Try this:

I've spent thousands and thousands of hours on the Atlantic Ocean. I spent years learning maritime skills from experts. Ever since I returned to dry land, I have been wanting to get back out there, and I've charted a course to Cape Town, South Africa. I am looking to see if anyone is interested in coming with. give some specification at to what kind of people you are looking for, age gender, history of the person...

Why don't we just have a seperate sub-forum for idiots that want to run off to the wilderness so the rest of us don't have to keep reading these posts. Though I have to admit the responses are usually pretty entertaining.

Thank you for posting a real response, it seems as everyone else is only here for entertainment and to complain.

I have no preference of age or gender, but do ask that you able to "handle your own". I have spent months in the wild on my own and know that I can survive alone, but I feel it is much more fulfilling to go with someone who has similar interests. Venturing into the wild is not as much "fun" as many people think and requires a lot of work, to hunt, forage & navigate. So having any basic skills/understanding of wilderness survival, edible plants & physical fitness at the very least, would be beneficial. It is important to know the strengths & weaknesses of each individual and plan around it.

I spent 4 years in the USMC and have extensive survival & combat training. In addition to that, I have spent much of my life hiking, camping, learning about primitive living and weaponry, even won atlatl competitions as a young teen. My reason for wanting to go into the wild is fairly simple, I do not agree with the direction this world is going and would like to separate myself from all of the negative. We all have a limited number of hours on this planet and I do not wish to spend mine working 40hrs a week and living in a world I don't agree with.

No one forces you to read any post. I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we all have our own beliefs. Maybe for you, running off into the wilderness seems crazy, but again no one is forcing you to do so. As for me, I do not believe that I should work 8hrs a day, 5 days a week until I am too old to do so and only then take the time to enjoy the tiny bit of life I have left.

You need to understand that we get a post like this about once a week. You guys come on here, don't bother posting any information about yourself, proclaim you're running away from society and want someone to go with you. You deserve any kind of response you get with that format. I appreciate and thank you for your service but you can't honestly expect anyone to respond in a favorable manor. You might just as easily post you're looking for someone to share an apartment with. That would be LOT easier than what you're trying to do. So don't go criticizing the rank and file. You need to stand down and try this a in a different manor.

Thank you for the "Good Luck". Also, you make very valid points, but understand that this is only the second forum I have posted on and not everyone knows the proper "forum etiquette". My understanding is that these forums are for people to gain knowledge from each other and meet people with similar interests, correct? And if there is a post like this "once a week", that could mean that there are 52 people each year that turn to this forum to meet people with similar interests. To me, that seems like a fairly good amount of people with a common interest. It may not be as many as people who search this forum for information about "prepping", but it is still a decent amount. And don't forget that while to you "running into the wild" may seem crazy, there are plenty of people who think your interests are just as insane.

No, my original MOS was 5711 (chemical, biological, radio-logical & nuclear) but did a lat move after 2 years to 8972 (aircrew) which you have to go through SERE school to complete.

That must have been a lot of fun. Sounds like you got it all together, good luck

you should start by giving a mini biography about your self so other people know who you are, (example. any criminal records). so people can feel safe. then give a more detail as to how you will execute your plan. then maybe you will have better luck finding somebody that might want to go into the wild with you.
