Lump charcoal.

Do any of you knife makers (or blacksmiths) use lump charcoal in you forge?

I saw somewhere, that Home Depot has Trucue (or something like that) lump charcoal on clearance. The BBQ guys are saying that they don't like the taste it leaves in food, but at $1.98 for an 8.8# bag, I thought someone would have a use for it.

If it's real wood charcoal then it's just the trick. It burns fast, and you go through a lot of it.

If it's the artificial junk made of sawdust and filler, it's garbage, though I have used it.
