I bought what looks like a homemade linoleum knife blade for 25 cents.The handle was taped and screwed to another little piece of steel.I took it apart and am trying to figure out what I want to do with it.I was thinking about turning it into a little skinning blade,but was wondering if anyone here would have a suggestion.Here's a picture of the blade.

It looks like a wide gutting blade. The hook is a bit shallow for most linoleum knives.
The profile of the back looks like a skinning knife would be a good choice.
At first glance I thought it was a mower blade of some sort!
Depending on how you want to use it, you can dull the cutting edge and sharpen the opposite side. Of course - you could leave the edge as is and just clean it up and put a handle on it.
Well if you ever get attacked by one of those Linoleums you will at least have a fighting chance:scared:

I like Winter's idea about changing the blade profile better than my suggestion.
Winter has a good idea. It would follow the existing grind from the blade back to the cutting edge.
Do you have fiiberglass resin?
You can wrap it in resin saturated cordage or cloth. Wrap it really big and really tight. Wait for it to dry solid and grind it to shape.

It's great man. Use an old pair of jeans for blue, a red hanki fo red. Look at all of Crashdives micarta. Great handle material, virtually free. Fiberglass resin stores pretty well for me, and it's multipupose.
I'd have no qualms against repaiing a boat hull with just resin and any fabris from cheesecloth to old Wranglers. Every preparedness minded person should have some.

Just a word of caution. Don't sharpen it until you are done with EVERYTHING else. Less chance of a mishap. Don't ask me how I know.
