Another Reaon for a Get Home Bag in Your Vehicle

Most people carry a GHB in the trunk, or the "boot" for Winny. I doubt she would have had access.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't have one.

Mine is seatbelted in the passanger seat right next to me.

Another good reason to carry a cell phone in a pocket or belt holster. She probably had one in her pocketbook, which likely went flying somewhere inaccessible during the crash. A cell phone in a pocketbook is as useless as a handgun in a pocketbook.

Having it strapped in is a good idea.....
I recall a close call at "The Place".....Just had the excavation done for the cabin and changed my drive way around, resulting in fresh clay road way....no gravel or road bond yet.

Of course I was leaving that day....DW wanted pic's of the new driveway and cabin site....so drove up the hill (pretty steep) turned on the new section and started across.......had about 10 feet to go and started sliding sideways in the wet clay....like slow motion till slid off the roadway and looked like I was going down the hill sideways.

First thought....Man, this is gonna leave a mark, and started looking around in the cab to see what was gonna beat my brains out if it rolled.

Came to a stop with the passenger door almost flat against the ground, drivers door close to straight up....made getting out a real treat.

Bottom line, a tow truck, with an operator, brought up in hill country, and soil that turn to slick when wet, dragged me out with no damage other that the embarrassment, of being seen in such a position.

I do not have a lot of anything in the cab of the car or truck that isn't strapped down since....and emergency belt cutter, and window punch close at hand.
Till that day, I had never gave it a thought.

Mine is behind the driver's seat. My extraction tool is in the overhead console.

But is it secured, because in a wreck that bag could come flying at the back of your head.

High back seats and a truck cab so not a flying obstacle problem. I do agree that roll overs are a free for all if things aren't tied down. Most folks just don't recognize the potential for stuff to go airborne.

Speaking of wrecks....wonder what would happen to the young ladies in the passenger seat if the air bag deploys. They always seem to have their feet propped on the air bag. As their head and butt slam forward their feet slam backwards. Seems like a bit rough on the lower spine to me.

I was unfortunate to witness that one. Girl had her foot flat on the dash and her knee was in front of the chest. I'll leave to your imagination to where her knee was afterwards.

Another thing is pets in the car. Had a guy come into the ED after a head on collision with air bag deployment. Guess where his little lap dog was at the time of the accident. Yep, the nurses spent 3 hours digging chunks of Fido out of his belly.....

That airbag inflates via explosive charge. Folks don't seem to think through putting stuff in front of them including the wrong parts of their anatomy.
